I really love escargot in garlic, sherry wine, and butter, but one of the comments here made me wonder how this foreign visitor could be utilized...he or she is too larger to pop in your mouth in one bite, but I am thinking chop them up in snail chowder! In New England we eat a lot of clam chowder, and the clams and snails are almost identical in consistency! 馃槉

@4meAndyou Article claims
that considering gastronomy in West African countries, these snails raised for food are fed a diet of edible vegetables, fruits, chicken feed, and commercial snail food. They can also be cooked, sliced, canned, dried-freeze, and sold as escargot.

@Vaper They would have to be chopped to use in chowder! And I was wondering about the diet..if they eat paint...lead paint? Certainly one would want their diet to be controlled!

@4meAndyou I believe the majority of fear here is their reproduction rate as it seems to have a voracious appetite for pretty much anything. In terms of including them in a diet for human consumption, their controled environment actually makes them a super food source ironically for much the same reasons.

@Vaper Well I would enjoy them as a food source...already love snails.

@4meAndyou As do I. I just wish not to discover ones sqished remains beneath my barefoot in the dark.
