I Have a Rabbit

If anyone is considering getting a pet rabbit- don't do it unless you are prepared to put in 8-20 years of high maintenance. 😣

My rabbit is 12 years old now, and I spend all day cleaning up after him. I love him dearly and would'nt give him up, but I can safely say I won't be getting another rabbit, ever.

Since my rabbit is a senior now, he can't clean himself very well anymore. So guess who has to do it? That's right, me. 😂

Tonight I had to take tiny scissors and trim the dried poo off of his butt fur, run a lukewarm bath for him to sit in so as to loosen the dried poo that was too close to his skin to trim with the scissors, wash his butt with gentle conditioner, wash his feet, dry him, trim his nails, and rub his reddened feet with antiseptic.

A rabbit is definitely not a good pet for anyone who doesn't want to sink that kind of time and attention regularly into its care. I don't recommend a rabbit as a pet for a child either, for that same reason.

Can rabbits be house trained to use a litter box? Also, what is your bunny’s name? 😊

@XenonRush yes they can. They are easily trained to use a litter box. Usually once you set up their enclosure, they will naturally begin to pee in one spot every time. Once they have chosen this spot, simply place a litter box there and the bunny will use that instead. Then you can move the litter box if needed and the bunny will always use it.

My bunny's name is Sweetpea. ❤
