Not a great day

It started out pretty normal. Joel got home and showered and we were having lunch before we went to the movies. My tiny tornado was talking about baseball and his hand hit his glass and he spilled his drink on himself, his almost empty plate, Joels lunch and Joel. Joel took him and helped him change them he went and changed. I asked Joel if he wanted me to make him something really quick and he said no, he didn't want us to be late for the movies.

We get to the movies and get everyone in their seats. We give them their popcorn and water. About half way through the movie Joel told me he'd be right back. He got a few seats away and sat down. I went over to him and asked him if he was ok. He said he was feeling dizzy and lightheaded headed. He said he needed a drink but all we had was water. So I went and got him a soda pop and after about 15 minutes he was feeling better. I've never seen this happen to him before. He said it wasn't happened either. Lucky the kids were playing attention to the movie and didn't notice. We got home and he seemed fine the rest of the evening.

Than the night got worse. We were sitting outside watching banana ball and the boys were playing in the yard. My tiny tornado announced he had to go to the restroom and was heading in the house. Then he let out a horrible scream and started crying hysterically. Joel and I both ran to him. He was crying my foot my foot. I pick him up and Joel looks at his foot. He was not wearing shoes and the poor kid stepped on a bee. I do my best to calm him down as Joel gets the stinger out of his foot.

Daddy am I going to die

No kiddo we'll get you cleaned up and I'll give you some Tylenol.

But it hurts so bad

I know buddy do you want a ice pack.

Yes and I think a s'mores would make me feel better too.

Of course buddy. We can do that. I
take him inside so he can go to the bathroom and I get the icepack

He sat on my lap the rest of the evening and enjoyed two s'mores.

His foot is a little red and bruised but other than that he seems fine. He fell asleep in my arms and I just held him until we put him and his brother to bed

Joel also seems fine as well. Still not sure what caused him to not feel good at the movies like that.

What a crazy night

I bet it was that he didn't have lunch. I get shaky and sweaty and feel really weird if I skip a meal. So glad you got him a soda. I bet his sugar was low. Even non diabetic can go low if you have skipped a meal. I now carry little box of candy with me because it's happened a couple times for me .
Hope the lil guys foot feels better tomorrow..aww.

@Coralmist I asked his ex wife if that has happened to him before and she said no. I'm guessing it's because he didn't eat much for lunch. And he didn't have any honey for his tea in the morning. We ran out. I didn't notice because I don't care for honey. But I should of checked because he uses it every day. I ordered more last night though

@Cigarguy101 Hopefully it was just a one time thing. But I never experienced it prior myself until about ten years ago was the first time. It happens maybe every other month if I walk on top of having a tiny meal. It's really a horrible scary feeling in the body. But wow does even one glass juice or some candy really help. Fingers crossed it was just the skipped lunch!

@Coralmist well I wasn't up when he left for work today but I know he had his tea and honey I ordered 2 bottles yesterday and he eat something. He left the dishes in the sink.I really don't like not waking up with him. But I took my pill last night at 11 and still didn't fall asleep until 3am. I like getting up with him in the morning. That way I know he's ok. I like making his breakfast for him seeing him off

Just as Joel watches out for you, you might want to make sure his blood sugar doesn't drop too low or spike from now on. It used to happen to me ALL the freaking time. If I had honey or sugar, my blood sugar would spike, and if I didn't eat a normal meal within an hour, it would plummet.

I used to live with and travelled with a friend who almost became angry that I HAD to eat lunch every day. He gave me a really hard time about it. But having the sick shakies is an awful, awful feeling...and so is the headache that won't go away afterward.

Might have been a sugar level drop. Just guessing bad if happen a couple times long before chemo made me diabetic. You got him a soda which had sugar in it.
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
@Gibbon yeah I was thinking that might be it but he says it's never happened before.

@Cigarguy101 That doesn't mean anything. It comes on out of nowhere and suddenly. What did have to eat or not eat. Example your in a rush in the morning and grab some peanut butter crackers and a coke and head off. your going non stop and it's hours before lunch. That coke can cause a sugar spike that without any more food can suddenly drop like a rock and fast.

@Gibbon I don't know if he ate breakfast or not because I was asleep when he left work. He usually had a cup of hot green tea and honey in the morning but we ran out of the honey. And most of his lunch got ruined. He doesn't like popcorn so he didn't have any at the movies.
