Puppy love
Me and my (helplessly disabled) son were at the welding supply store the other day picking up some consumables. There were two guys working behind the counter and one other customer.
He was what I would call rather rural, with a dog off leash. The dog was a well mannered German Shepherd who moseyed over to check us out. He gave us the proper sniffings and it was as if we were old friends. He was letting me pet him while rested his head on my son's lap.
It warms my heart when I see dogs loving my son like that.
The other worker called me to the counter. I wheeled Jake away with me to conduct our transaction. The dog came with us (just maybe 5 or 6 feet away from where we'd just met)
The rural welder asked if his dog was bothering us. I said, of course not, and complemented him on his sweet dog, and I explained to him that all dogs respond to my son like that. We're used to it.
I went back to my transaction and a couple mins later, the rural man wrapped up his transaction and walked out the door, leaving his dog behind. I assumed he was just getting something from his car.
He was shocked when his dog didn't follow him out the like he usually does.
He called for his dog to come to him and whistled for him. Then got out of his car and came back into the store and made eye contact with his dog and begged him to come to him. ..the dog wouldn't leave my son's side.
It was like the dog was telling him he had found his purpose and the rural welder man was supposed to go on without him.
Eventually, the other worker, (the store manager) had to pull the dog to his owner by the collar, but that dog did not want to leave my son. It was sweet and sad at the same time
