@BizSuitStacy We had one male squirrel in our neighborhood that for years would get into any and everything that he could. He did a lot of damages to the siding near roofs in our neighborhood, including ours. Pulled the chimney cap off our roof and we had that replaced, pull the eave vent covers off in several places. All those things had to be repaired. One female squirrel got in the eaves and down between the wall between the kitchen and laundry room. Had a nest of babies. Or more squirrel ended up dying in that wall…phew! Another squirrel got in the walls and was trying to dig it’s way out through the walls, he would work for about 10-15 minutes and then get exhausted from it and would start barking, sounded like a chihuahua. Did this over and over again, fortunately in the bedroom where my computer desk was so at least I got to sleep at night. And that male squirrel that got into everything tried to get and slipped down between the sheet metal and the bricks in the chimney and got trapped. He scratched and scratched after a couple days died there. No smells this time and his skeleton is still there, Had to put the chimney cap back on. That’s when his little “gifts” stopped. He dragged up tortoise shells into the yard and left them, a cotton boll from someone’s plant, a piece of charred wood from someone’s fire pit, a big bead from a neighbor’s backyard swing, and other things and would leave them in our yard.
@4meAndyou If they get into attics they can chew on electric wires and start a house fire. I suspect that is what happened to a neighbor who lives about 2 blocks away. Their attic caught on fire in the summer.
