(The Images are not AI generated but real pictures)

Horse breed : Akhal Teke

Origin: Turkmenistan

The Akhal Teke is a horse breed autochthonous to the country of Turkmenistan; its metallic sheen in its coat is what sets it apart from other horses, and it is valued as well for being considered to be one of the oldest existing horse breeds in the world. A few important facts about the Akhal Teke:

They have a reputation for endurance, speed and intelligence. They have thin manes and are well known for their distinctive metallic sheen.

The shiny coat of the Akhal Teke led to their being nicknamed "Golden Horses". The metallic sheen is not a color gene, but due to the structure of the hair shaft that affects how light reflects off the coat, which scatters light, thus creating a shimmering, golden appearance. While the metallic sheen is a characteristic trait of the breed, it is not present in all Akhal Tekes; their colors vary in bays, duns, blacks, and chestnuts. Akhal Teke horses vary in colors: Brown, black, grey, cream, white and yellow. The metallic sheen, which in duns may produce an unusual golden effect, is most noticeable in horses with lighter coat colors.

They are well adapted to severe climatic conditions and can go long distances without much water and food. It is believed that its unique coat provided camouflage in the desert where the breed originated. Today, Akhal Teke horses are found in Turkmenistan and Russia, with smaller populations in Europe, North America, Uruguay, and Australia. This special breed of horse is considered a national treasure in Turkmenistan and has laws to protect it.

So majestic and stunning, Akhal Teke horses look ethereal, like something straight out of a fairytale book, together with shimmering unicorns and winged horses.

I totally agree that they're the most beautiful horses in the world.. It had crossed my mind that if I ever won the lottery or something big, I'd breed them myself! Lol! Their pearlescense is remarkable and stunning!! I want one! Or two!!
@saintsong Thank you☺I can understand wanting to breed them, they're such an unusual breed that after all the centuries they have been around, I hope the purebred ones don't join the endangered list due to cross-breeding which I read some people are doing. Good thing there is now a law protecting them to keep them pure, assuring somehow that they will still be around for a long time. Yes, it's remarkable and stunning, it's also as if their coat is made of shiny satin too☺
Wow! Gorgeous!
@LadyGrace It is, absolutely!☺

What a beautiful animal 🥰
@Oneofthestormboys It most definitely is! ☺
@Ferric67 I think so too ☺
beautiful, never seen one like that,
@jackrabbit10 Awww! You've raised her and she sees you as her dad, I think that's so sweet! They do respond when you call them,right? I think they're very intelligent. I saw a video of a man who talks to them gently and is able to get them to fall asleep, cuddling up to him.I no longer eat beef because I have this affection for cows. I'm not vegetarian nor vegan but I consume more veggies and fruits now. Maybe one day I can manage to be one🤞☺
@LilMissAnonyMOUSE my son works a Dairy, ever so often a calf is born with short utters cant be a Dairy cow, so they are sold off,
@jackrabbit10 He does? At least they don't kill them. Tbh, I still drink cow's milk( with coffee) and use it for baking too but I hope to wean myself off it eventually., first by no longer drinking coffee, if I can manage it .

Oh, I feel sorry for them, I wish they weren't killed for food.I hope we can find a solution for this so that dairy farms and cattle farms can still live off of something that would replace animal farming so that everyone wins in this situation☺
I should work with horses again.
@SinlessOnslaught You did before ? It's hard not to get attached to them , I imagine.
@SinlessOnslaught 🙏🏻yes, they're so ''larger than life'' that it's tough to lose them too but so rewarding / fulfilling to care for them🙂

At first I thought it was AI.
@samueltyler2 It's the metallic sheen on its coat that's so unusual, it throws people off, thinking it's fake... but it's real. That's why I had to state in my post that it is not AI, in case people start doubting its authenticity. They can always Google it and see that they are really that way ☺

Arabians have prettier faces tho
@YoMomma Arabian horses are an excellent breed, it's also a contender for it's strength and stamina. I find their nostrils just a tiny bit too pronounced, though, but they are beautiful too. The Akhal Teke is very different, quite unusual... its face is elongated, its features are not as defined as those of other horses, perhaps a legacy of its past ancestors still evident in the purebred ones. My personal choice for a horse's face is that of the Iberian breed :

I will make a post about them soon because there are at least 14 native Iberian horse breeds and they are all very beautiful and quite intelligent☺
