My friend died

Debating whether I should drink in her honor

Funny enough, she overdosed. I’d rather not start using again so alc is the next best thing.

She always used to drink Malibu with coke when we were together. The smell nauseated me and I thought it was disgusting. I’m going to miss her.

Deepest condolences on the loss of your friend. No one should have to pay a price like that.

As for you. Clean means clean. It doesn’t mean switching to the next addictive substance. It doesn’t mean playing with your life because you believe the same innocuous lies about alcohol as you did the 1st drug.

Alcohol is a drug, make no mistake. It kills more people per year than any other drug combined (though that’s shifting). It causes the greatest financial losses. It wrecks brains, bodies and spirits. And we still exalt it and those who drink it.

Your friend let drugs take her life, full of promise, of unrealized joys, of unmet loved ones. You tell me – would she be happy to see you heading down that same road? Feel your emotions, live your life, honor yourself and your friend.
