First counseling appointment...

It just left me sad and feeling defeated. No real advice, she just got an understanding of the situation. I'm so sad and hurt. I really want to talk to my husband..or whatever. ButI want him to understand. Smh. I just want to hide in a hole and never some out but instead I have to mask up and act like mom's all smiles and sunshine and under control.😭😭😭

People who have a severe illness or are in a terrible accident go to he hospital to get help, they don't hide it.

When I go through rough patches, I just let those close know "Hey, I love you. It'll be okay, I just need some space and time to work through it." Aka....time to heal just like people in a hospital.

Why hide it ... Just makes the wounds worse. Can't heal what's hidden...
Of course you have all those feelings. You have to feel whatever is inside...that is what therapy is. To get to the issues, drag them out, and get rid of them. Therapists give you the tools to do it. He or she will NOT fix it for you, they guide you to where you want to be. You must do the work. Be open. ALWAYS speak the truth or it will not work. Don't do what so many people do after the first session, usually because the person doesn't really understand what therapy is and so they have unreasonable expectations.I'm just going on about it in case you are one of those people. Keep at it until you don't feel you have to "mask up" and you can be free.
Over 8 yrs of counseling spread over our marriage did us no good as my wife dismissed it all as 4 different counslors all just "took my side". If he doesnt engage/take it seriously .. walk away.
@CardiacKintsugi Wouldn't say wasted .. we have two great sons and have had some times when things were better mixed in, we simply could never sustain it.

@Stillwaiting Sustained peace. Were you able to be at peace after?
@MizzO I'm still in the marriage .. at least for now .. have some regrets over that.
Don't give up, the first sessions always the worst.

@Mindfulness I don't know what else to do. Apart of me just wanted her to fix it now
@MizzO WE have to fix it! You'll be taught how to do that.

hypnotherapy might be something you want to look into. It can help you in just a few sessions as opposed to years of counselling because it works with your subconscious

@Jenny1234 I don't trust people that much

@MizzO you are fully awake when you are hypnotized. It's very safe.

@Jenny1234 Nope. I'm good on that. Thanks for the recommendation though.
