If your job doesn't include handling money or being responsible for other people's safety, why would your employer drug test you?

Why do they care if you take drugs?

To know who to contact when they run out

Depends. Some of the businesses clients may require that their vendors do drug testing. For example - I was Litigation Manager for a big law firm. Even tho the legal staff (paralegals, legal assistants, etc) never met with clients, some of our bigger clients required that anyone who may come across their information be drug tested. So we had to do random tests every 3 months. Most of our bigger clients had that requirement.

I don’t agree with it. Somebody could have gotten high 2 weeks ago and could pop hot today…even tho it has no affect on their work. It’s kinda dumb
It's all about the money. If you are too wasted to work or to do your job properly and efficiently, they can't make money. If you cost them money, then they can't pay you your wages. So it all makes sense and works out.
