What's the scummiest thing someone you personally know in real life did?

For me, it's this guy I knew from when I was 10 and he was 8, but despite being two years younger than me he was an absolute piece of shit. He was controlling, abusive, rude, and his mom did absolutely nothing to stop him. His favorite insult was calling everyone "a bunch of retards." And when he didn't get his way he'd blow up on people. And he often liked to fart on people and rub his boogers on people and a bunch of other gross shit.

And when I checked out his Instagram account about a decade later or so... he hadn't changed one bit. He got even worse, in fact. As for what he did...

He made a bunch of posts pretending to be anorexic, claiming he was "too fat" even though he was only like 5'4 and 100 pounds. And he had photos of himself shirtless, flexing his non-existent biceps. And he started a fundraiser where people would donate money to "help him fight his anorexia." And people bought it for some reason...

When he was able to raise about $10,000 or so, he came out and claimed that he wasn't actually anorexic, and that it was just a joke. And people were ABSOLUTELY PISSED. And rightfully so.

"GIVE US BACK OUR $10,000!"

"YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT I'LL KILL YOU!"

"I'M CALLING THE FUCKING POLICE!"

And people had doxxed and swatted his house after that.

Unfortunately though he faced no legal consequences and got to keep all the money. Something along the lines of the police saying "while he was scummy people did choose to donate to him, it was their own choice."

A kid I grew up with ended up stabbing an old man during a carjacking. He was caught shortly afterwards. Sadly, the old man did not survive. Two lives thrown away for practically nothing

Fraudulent misrepresentation. A civil rather than a criminal offence. Unfortunately very common and perhaps the scale of the deception was too limited for the police to take an interest.

@YoMomma No but it's quite LITERALLY the smirking emoji. It's literally how it's coded/labeled officially. It's not a subjective thing. You can interpret anything however you want but it's literally the smirking emoji.

A guy that owes six years of support to his crippled wife. He hasn't even sent a birthday card to his young son.

@plungesponge Ah yeah. That's definitely a really common one. Has happened to me myself several times actually. Now I'm incredibly cynical, untrusting, nihilistic, misanthropic, cold, etc, all at the same time. Might not exactly be considered healthy, but I was just tired of getting screwed over by literally everyone I knew. At least this way I don't get hurt nearly as easily.
