International Women's Day?

Is this a new thing, or have I just been oblivious for the past however long this has been happening? Also, do I get anything, like a free taco or something, or is it just another feel good fake holiday that doesn't really do anything?

Because if I've been missing out on free tacos this whole time, I'm gonna real disappointed!

It's been around a long time, 1909 under the title of called "National Woman's Day" in NYC. Soon becoming international when more places did it in the following years.

But it was started as a socialist and/or communist political women's movement, which haven't exactly been popular in the U.S. Though it became a non-work day in the Soviet Union, and mainly celebrated in communist countries.

Sounds like in 1967s, it sort of transitioned from a political movement with feminist ties, to more specific a feminist movement (and less about socialism/communism but still very strong connects to it).

Red = Official Holiday
Orange= Official Holiday for Women only
Yellow = Non-offical Holiday
Everywhere else, it's a named day

relatively speaking, quite new, about one hundred and ten years...
Yulianna · 26-30, F
@FaeLuna 🇺🇦🌻🇺🇸 yes, it is actually a public holiday here in Ukraine and women are supposed to be treated well.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@Yulianna I would hope being treated well is just an everyday thing, but it's nice to be appreciated with something special once in a while.
Yulianna · 26-30, F
@FaeLuna yes, it is the other 364 days you have to worry about...
Miram · 31-35, F
I got flowers, perfume and some ticket to a shop and chocolates.

Get your rights, girl
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@Miram How did it take me almost 30 years to find out about this?! I'm going out for free stuff later!
Miram · 31-35, F
@FaeLuna 🥰 make sure to also treat yourself with nice things
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@Miram Nice things? I guess I could do something special for dinner...
scooogy · 31-35, MVIP
Like I've already said, strong women don't need this day.
Yulianna · 26-30, F
@scooogy why does your little brother think you are gay?
scooogy · 31-35, MVIP
@Yulianna He actually insults me with every breath he takes, he's grown up antisocially.
Yulianna · 26-30, F
@scooogy ok, i guess you are right, this is no longer suitable for public forum.

i don't think i am ready to talk with you privately, so we should leave it here.

stay safe!
Oh no there are tacos. You can visit any Taco Bell in the lower 48 States and bring in a notarized letter stating you are female or identify as female and you get one Cool Ranch Dorito Taco™ and one Mountain Dew Baja Blast™ Some exceptions apply, not valid with any other offers, supplies are limited.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@MrBlueGuy Does a birth certificate count? I don't think it's notarized though.
@FaeLuna Yes but make sure it's the long form birth certificate. It'll have the embossed seal from your local vital statistics registrar.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@MrBlueGuy That's a lot of hassle for a free taco bell taco. I might just skip it this year, and try again next time.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
It started in 1911!
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@badminton Did it really? Wow, I am late to the party!
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@FaeLuna Sorry, no free tacos that I know of.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@badminton Dang it. I really wanted a free taco.
tindrummer · M
traditionally wasn't celebrated in the States because it was associated with the Soviet Union and socialist/ communist ideas
Yulianna · 26-30, F
@tindrummer yeah, like respect for women... how left wing is that!
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@Yulianna Those darn communists, and their crazy ideas of respecting people as equals! What will they think of next?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Yulianna As absurd as it sounds, some really think that way.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I've never heard of it until this year. It sounds like something some guys made up to try to get laid.
Miram · 31-35, F
@hunkalove sorry to disappoint but on women's day, women get laid with women not with men.
KeyserSoze · 31-35, M
Happy women’s day, oblivious woman.
I have a feeling that a certain faction within the alphabet soup will feel excluded and call for its demise 😁
MethDozer · M
It's been thing longer than we been alive.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@MethDozer It is?! Wait, I have Irish heritage! No one tells me anything!
MethDozer · M
@FaeLuna And you're a woman!
Shine FaeLuna shine! Your moment is now.
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
@MethDozer Truly today was a good day to log in to this site!
