I Am Disabled

My pancreas doesn’t work. I wear a pump. It pumps insulin into me every three minutes. But I have to test my blood glucose about twelve times a day. And tell my pump how much grams of carbohydrate I am about to consume. And tell it if I am about to swim or just been swimming. If I am premenstrual. It needs to know everything! It’s a hidden disability.

No offense but I’d hardly call type one diabetes a disability. My sister is a type one diabetic so I know all about it. It sounds like you are trying to play the martyr. I have an actual disability. My left arm doesn’t work and my leg hardly works. That is a true disability. Type one diabetes is just a real pain in the ass but definitely not a disability. No offense

Not all disabilities are visible. I’m right there with you! Hypoglycemic, hip dysplasia, and arthritis. Thank goodness for my service dog for my sugar

I love that your dog can help you! I am really skating on the thin ice between ok and hypo. My sensor is red line a lot. @Soramarie

He is so gorgeous! It’s hard to believe he is a working dog! @Soramarie

ThAnk you! in some states you can pick your dog. Just pick the calmest pup

That would put quite a bit on you to continually manage your life.

Think about the bright side, about how 30 years ago, without the modern technology, you might have died from your diabetes by now!

I know. And I get depressed and wish I could just not wake up in the morning. And then I feel depressed for having such thoughts. But could you live with this. Weighing your food. Calculating carbs. Swimming for Wales. Going to college. Blood glucose testing constantly 24/7 no holidays. @samueltyler2

@BlodynJones it is better than the alternative!
