I realise running is excellent for losing weight. I just can't seem to start doing it.

Many people say running can be addictive, and I can see their results. But try as I may I hate it. I can walk for miles and love it, but running hurts my chest and feet. I'm not obese, but large breasted which i think is my problem

Eventually everyone gives up running or activities that cause stress to the joints. Example, I used to be an excellent racquetball player. But eventually the stress it put on my knees forced me to stop playing. Now I use my racquet to swat wasps while enjoying a beer in summer. So stick with a brisk walk and feel great about it.

Walking or hiking, especially uphill is pretty good, but as someone who lost some weight and kept it off, the real absolute secret for me was to eat much less...and keep it up by weighing myself every day...

@fun4us2b yesterday I did 9 miles in the Chilterns (hilly area). As I cant go to the gym, I'm walking as much as i can.

@Raine Wow...that's really great!

Try walking. Then graduate to brisk walking.

Once you're comfortable then start jogging then eventually increase it up a notch with running. If I can do it then so can you.

I never could get the hang of running. My joints are floppy and my knees are bad so I tend to hurt myself a lot. I thought losing weight would help but it never did.

Walking is just as effective. It just takes longer.. :)

@walabby better for your knees too

@carpediem Absolutely! Less chance of stress fractures in your ankles, too...

Walking is just as good.
I can't take it either. The world runs out of oxygen quick; your vision blurs, head swims, and you wish you were dead.
Give me a bike or a good walk anytime.

Take heart, there are plenty of other alternatives for your fitness goals

............. Gotta take the good with the bad, eh? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Same. I power walk, which is kind of a happy medium—easier on the knees with less “bounce”.

Running sucks. There are loads of different exercises you can do to get good cardio without it.

Walking is greatvexercise as well. Gradually walk faster. How big are your breasts that they interfere with running? Do you wear a sports bra?
