I Witnessed Corporal Punishment At School

In the UK I doubt there are many boys, particularly, who grew up in the 1950s and '60s (like me) who didn't see at least one of their classmates whacked with a gymshoe by a particularly sadistic PE teacher!
I homeschool my kids,so they get CP in school as needed.
If I got spanked in school when I was growing up, I got spanked again when I got home.

I have never met anyone who resented their parents for spanking them. They may not have enjoyed it at the time, but they appreciated it later.

I always notice that people really love comments that support their point of view, even if that point of view goes against basic human rights.
No child should be hit by their parent. It is not cool and it is not "sexy". Your parent should be someone that loves and protects you. Every parent should want what is best for a child and hitting them is not it! You can teach them to respect you without physical punishment becoming part of that.
As I stated, my father did spank me as a child. All it did was make me angry at him. I felt unheard and unloved. I was scared of my father, until I got older and he stopped spanking me, and instead talked to me like a normal person would. We were able to mend our relationship, but I doubt it would have turned out that way had he continued on.
Why any adult would want to abuse the power that they have over a small child by spanking them/hitting them is beyond me. It sounds like some sort of mental complex.
I know that this has some sort of weird fetish/cult following and I personally could care less about fetishes, being in the BDSM scene myself, but that is between two consenting adults. Not parent and child. That takes this to some sort of sick level.

@SweetDesiree
Mine did, all four of them, but very rarely and apparently quite moderately.
ArtieKat · M
@SweetDesiree Do you think you would have been in the queue outside the principal's study if it had been in use at your school?

In my school seeing boys and girls get the slipper was an everyday event.
Louise, it has been both ways here for a time it swung the other way where you were made to feel like a monster if you spanked your kids. Now it's starting to be more popular and a lot more common again.
I saw a pole not to long ago it said 96% of patients believed in spanking, but 65% were afraid to admit that they spank their kids.
That is such a shame.

yes that how it was in those days at school there was nothing more humiliating than laying over a teachers knee having your bottom smacked [ I should know as I have seen it and had it done to me so this is coming from experience ] but as I say in those days it was the norm and nobody ever thought about it

likemind why was he called jasper then in what sense was he sadistic was he a total bastard then because I think that came with the territory with most games teachers and when I was a school like many others had had teachers that had a sadist streak and upset them at your peril
smiler2012 · 56-60
yes you are right there on that one I saw spankings and canings whilst I was at school and I was also on the receiving end on a few occasions but I went to school from the end of the sixties to the very early eighties and you just accepted as part of school life
I thought that you would have caught on to what I said before.
It is quite unlike that you or anyone such as yourself is going to change.my mind or the mind of anyone who believes as I do.
And no the United States isn't going to follow Canada or any of the other 40 countries off the cliff of insanity.
There are far too many people who believe in it to allow that to happen. Quite the opposite is happening there is a resurgence of traditional beliefs in this country.
We are sick of the government running our lives and telling us what we can and can't do with our families.
Good luck to you. I don't see a need to express my feelings further. Nor respond to yours.

The United States doesn't care what the rest of the world is doing? I'm American by the way and I know that is not true. In over 40 countries, spanking your child is illegal, Canada will soon pass that law as well (this year even).
Do you really think the USA will continue to allow it, considering it is the country with the highest rates of child abuse and it is in the top five for sexual abuse of children?
Right!
The CPS in America goes after parents who let their children walk alone to the playground. Do you really think that having the right to hit your child will last for that much longer?
I know, I know...it is our American right to abuse our children....

likemind ha ha years ago we had a nurse that worked with us in theatre and if she was wound up it was not her expression that told you it was blinking both her eyes at a rapid speed

Smiler2012, Jasper had a twitchy eye when he got agitated, he looked like a villain from Victorian melodrama.

I grew up in the 1980s and there was no type of hitting in school. I'm a parent who believes that modern day parenting is leading to a general lack of respect from today's children. With that being said, I don't believe in spanking or any type of physical punishment. It is not necessary.
All it does is make children fearful and they will resent you. It is not a good way to get them to listen.
Desired spanking between two consenting adults is a whole different story though! :D
It's a choice every parent has to make. There is no fence sitting here. People clearly fall in two groups those who believe in it and those who don't. This along with a few other subjects are not something that people tend to change their mind about.
But either way for or against, it is the parents right to choose. I don't feel the need to ever apologize for what I believe or how I was raised. It has been effective since the beginning of time and always will be.

Artiekat,
My sadistic P.E. Teacher was nicknamed "Jasper"

My father spanked me and although resentment would be a harsh word, I don't think it helped matters. I didn't learn anything from it and I remember as a kid how angry it made me.
Spanking should only be something fun between consenting people. Hitting someone without permission should never occur.

Our PE Teacher was not particularly sadistic - he used the plimsoll but only rarely. Perhaps the threat was enough! Looking at some posts though, one would think "The Effective Use of the Plimsoll" part of the training for 1950s-60s PE Teachers!

I think the boys watching were the more sadistic, or at least, remarkably prurient.

Luckily, it is not legal in over 40 countries, including the one that I live in. So no, it is not the parents' choice. Soon Canada will make it illegal and it will be just a matter of time before the United States will follow.
I live in the United States and it is legal here, I live in Florida and it is here. There is no signs of that changing anytime soon. Several counties have brought it back in the schools.
So you're wrong as a parent it is my choice.

In my school, CPs were inflicted in the front of the class, so I witnessed the spanking of my class mates :P and they witnessed mines :( However, in my boys high school, Cps were administered in private, and only on boarders.

Only because you live somewhere that permits it...for now. That won't last long. Canada is already on the verge of making it illegal. The United States will surely follow.

Louise, I've just commented on one of your own posts - I look forward to when this site has private messaging operational, as I'm sure you agree some stories are not for public consumption.
TexasGrandpa · 61-69, M
I think most of us who grew up pre 1980's witnessed at least one such punishment. I recall a time when our entire class was lined up and received swats.
ArtieKat · M
@Louise, you say: "I am sure that people do not wish to read about my teenage years." - I'm not sure about THAT lol! I think the people here are a salacious lot! :-)
The United States couldn't give a damn about what Canada does.
ArtieKat · M
@LikeMind, we had a "Jesse" (surname James) lol :-)

Are you in the UK also, Louise?
