Anyone with anxiety issues?

I get anxious all the time. Be it a small task or big challenge. I can鈥檛 handle anything coolly. Now a days I am very harsh when dealing with people.. any solutions?

My wife has major major serious anxiety issues. Me less so. What's worked for her is:

- A good therapist. We had to shop around until we found someone who was a serious professional with proper therapeutic tips and not just there to listen.

- The right medication. This also took a while and we had some major hiccoughs.

- People around her/workplace learning how to understand and accommodate her anxiety. It can even be just litlte things like not surprising her, or walking behind her (she is uncomfortable with her back turned to people).

- Validation rather than dismissal of her issues. Making home a safe place and maximizing contact with people who 'get it' and minimizing contact with people who don't.

- We already had two dogs, but we got a third one who is a rescued who was abused. He's seriously made a HUGE difference to her quality of life and is basically a therapy dog even if that wasn't the reason we got him.
@CountScrofula I鈥檇 love to be able to meditate too. I know it would be helpful but because of my other issue. Full out meditation is almost painful. Suddenly I鈥檓 completely trapped in my own head. It鈥檚 absolutely terrible and terrifying.

@DarkHeaven Yeah, that's never really worked for my wife. It's about distraction and refocusing - getting out of your head rather than getting in to it.

I usually get high anxiety around crowds of strangers, I think I know its a problem and I hope counselling will help me overcome these feelings of inadequacy and social anxiety.

i just stay home alone - it saves me the stress.

@prawntobewild even staying alone doesn鈥檛 help me. 馃槩

Me either, but it lessens the problem - other people are a huge source of anxiety for me
I just stay in my room.

@AcidBurn Have you met other people? They're awful.
@CountScrofula I worked retail for years. I've met more than my fair share.

Get out of your headspace. Focus on an action, rather than the feeling. Stay in the present. If socializing, stay focused on them, rather than you in relation to them.

Maybe stop caring so much, if that's what's causing it. What is it a fear of?

Knowing where the anxiety is coming from would be good. Then you might be able to come up with a better solution.
Trying to figure this one out myself.

I think anxiety can definitly make people irritable. There are some good books you could read. I think there are many ways of approaching this. Exercise helps for some people. Meditation / prayer for others, etc.

I'm afraid I don't have any solutions, but I am easily prone to anxiety, even regarding things I've done before. I can't seem to shake the anxiety that builds.

Beta-blockers are helping me a lot

Therapy, possibly meds, but you CAN fix it. I have battled anxiety. Not gonna lie, it's work, but you can do it!
