I Have a Question

should i get a pet? I grew up in a fannily that was never affectionate, they never hugged us at ever, because of that i always felt awkward hugging others, to this day i never nnarried or had children cause of it, I dont have a lot of friends so inn alone a lot and if i do see friends theyre not huggers either. I feel like inn nnissing out on getting closer to people cause of it, and wondered if it would help to get a pet since they would probably be nnore affectionate than the people inn hanging around, and i feel like it would be nnore theraupedic for nne that way. I cant force guys to date or nnarry nne so inn thinking it nnight be healthier for nne to get a pet. i cant get a cat cause inn allergic to thenn, so it would have to be a dog, never had a pet before, just wondered if it would be nnore theraupedic for nne to have a pet than to have noone to hang out with. so what do you think? inn thinking of waiting to find out if i'll get ssi so it would be easier to afford one. any suggestions?
First make sure that you are ready mentally and financially to keep a pet... because they need food, doctors, vaccines, and other things too... ask a few people who keep dogs, how much they spend on their pet monthly/ yearly ...

If you are, then that's one awesome idea... I really really want you to have some live creature to live with you, so that you can give and take all the live that you are missing... that would really be nice...

@Soossie That was a good answer Soossie. I bet you are the popular one in your family...:)

Oh!! Hi my friend.... thank you ... I like and hope to be popular in my family. .
Do you like other people's dogs? Pets are like anything else, they take some getting used to.

If you have any anger management issues I'd think carefully. Pets, like kids, can be seriously aggravating, even though almost everything they do that we don't like is our own fault. (Don't leave your shoes where they can get at them to chew, put the trash can up on the counter, walk them frequently.)

My suggestion would be to visit a local animal shelter or two, maybe even volunteer there, to find out if you have an affinity for dogs. Think about adopting an older animal, many are already house-trained and leash-ready. You don't have to start with a puppy to form a close bond.

Pets are a lot of work and expense, but the right fit returns that investment ten-fold. I don't even think about Chloe as a pet. She's my friend and companion.

Before you take in a dependent animal, take a long close look at your home and dog-proof it, for the sake of your possessions and the dog's safety. You can get those inexpensive plastic child locks for cupboards where chemicals are stored, etc.

Having a dog is a real "begin as you mean to continue"
situation. If you get an adorable lab puppy and love to cuddle with it and let it sleep on your bed - before long you will be struggling with an 80 lb grown dog in the same circumstances.

I vote yes, definitely, with the above cautions.

Pets are a lot of responsibility so think and research it first. They are a lot of work but a lot of work too.

I've had many many rescue dogs my entire life, though they've all passed on now. They were always a great source of comfort and joy to me but i beg you to understand and accept that dogs are expensive so please be sure you have the time, money and commitment to care for your new best friend. It's been estimated that expenses for a young healthy dog averages more than $1,200/year.As my dogs aged,of course their health care cost rose significantly,in one case to $300/Mo and another to almost $500/Mo with many others falling somewhere in between.Pet health care insurance helps but before you receive any reimbursements from a pet insurance company, the Vet must always be paid up front. But dogs are our like one's children and like our children, they're worth every penny! Please do your research and good luck.Take care!
Here is an article 'can you afford a pet?' It depends partially on where you live how the costs vary.

Maybe you could volunteer at a pet shelter or you might be able to be a foster pet parent and have a dog live with you for a month until it can be adopted or conditioned to trusting people.

Maybe they will give you the pet food while you do it.

Good luck.

You might, I would suggest adopting an older pet from a shelter, as younger pets can be destructive and require a lot of energy (like babies).
