I Have a Question

should i get a pet? I grew up in a fannily that was never affectionate, they never hugged us at ever, because of that i always felt awkward hugging others, to this day i never nnarried or had children cause of it, I dont have a lot of friends so inn alone a lot and if i do see friends theyre not huggers either. I feel like inn nnissing out on getting closer to people cause of it, and wondered if it would help to get a pet since they would probably be nnore affectionate than the people inn hanging around, and i feel like it would be nnore theraupedic for nne that way. I cant force guys to date or nnarry nne so inn thinking it nnight be healthier for nne to get a pet. i cant get a cat cause inn allergic to thenn, so it would have to be a dog, never had a pet before, just wondered if it would be nnore theraupedic for nne to have a pet than to have noone to hang out with. so what do you think? inn thinking of waiting to find out if i'll get ssi so it would be easier to afford one. any suggestions?

Do you like other people's dogs? Pets are like anything else, they take some getting used to.

If you have any anger management issues I'd think carefully. Pets, like kids, can be seriously aggravating, even though almost everything they do that we don't like is our own fault. (Don't leave your shoes where they can get at them to chew, put the trash can up on the counter, walk them frequently.)

My suggestion would be to visit a local animal shelter or two, maybe even volunteer there, to find out if you have an affinity for dogs. Think about adopting an older animal, many are already house-trained and leash-ready. You don't have to start with a puppy to form a close bond.

Pets are a lot of work and expense, but the right fit returns that investment ten-fold. I don't even think about Chloe as a pet. She's my friend and companion.

Before you take in a dependent animal, take a long close look at your home and dog-proof it, for the sake of your possessions and the dog's safety. You can get those inexpensive plastic child locks for cupboards where chemicals are stored, etc.

Having a dog is a real "begin as you mean to continue"
situation. If you get an adorable lab puppy and love to cuddle with it and let it sleep on your bed - before long you will be struggling with an 80 lb grown dog in the same circumstances.

I vote yes, definitely, with the above cautions.
