Say someone you are close to hangs up on you during a conversation

Because they were angry that you did not agree with their line of thinking. And now it’s been several days. Do you call them back? Do you text them?

In the past I probably would have. Just to not lose the good stuff. But I have to be careful about overlooking the bad stuff. They can’t disagree with me peacefully and, days later, can’t get over themselves? Especially when the issue we disagreed on had nothing to do with them! I’m not putting up with that shit anymore.

Good for you. The person who ends the contact should always be the one to reestablish it.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
thank you. I always appreciate your advice ❤️@bijouxbroussard
@Fallflower Thank you, and thanks for BC. 😊

There are some good comments already, so there’s not much more to add - other than saying I guess it depends how close this person is to you and whether you want them to remain in your life.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@sciguy18 thank you. i’ll be thinking about it.

@sspec I don’t feel lost, but it is disappointing that they don’t seem to give a crap either way lol.

indeed. @sspec

I have a close friend who does that. He can't deal with stress or argument of any kind, and I happen to know he grew up in a completely dysfunctional home.

We have done this both ways. When I know I was wrong, I will call him in a few days and apologize.

When he does not hear from me, which happens when I get fed up, he calls me and pretends nothing ever happened.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@4meAndyou yeah.. it’s like that. i have to stop this dysfunction.
4meAndyou · F
@Fallflower You sometimes have to decide whether you want to lose the friend. Dysfunction like that can't be cured.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@4meAndyou I’m aware 😕
Anyone I’d say I’m close to wouldn’t hang up on me. I’d count those two items as mutually exclusive.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
I guess things are not as black and white for me, but maybe I’m too much of a sucker. @KrackerBash
Sometimes it’s best to cut ties and walk away ....
Fallflower · 46-50, F
yeah. thank you. 😕@Somewhereovertherainbow
Keepitsimple · 56-60, F
Unless they are family which I would promptly call back and tell off I would block the phone number and all other forms of contact. That’s BS.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@Keepitsimple I think blocking could cause more drama... which I want to avoid.
Livingwell · 61-69, M
I have to agree with your thinking. Knowing you a little, they are giving up a lot by dismissing you. They had their chance... time to move on to someone more deserving. 🤗
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@Livingwell 🤗🤗🤗
fun4us2b · M
Something not right there...could something else be going on? If not then maybe that person isn't as close as you...which is not so easy...
Fallflower · 46-50, F
nah it’s really not that deep. @fun4us2b
fun4us2b · M
@Fallflower Good, I hope you can leave it behind without feeling badly...sometimes it's a relief to get away...
I suppose it depends on how close they were and how close you'd like them to remain.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
yes it does put things into perspective. @dirge
Piper · 61-69, F
Unless I'd thought it over and could see how them hanging up on me was in any way
justified, I'd wait longer than several days to reach out to them. After that, it would depend upon how much they meant to me.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@Piper you and I seem to have very similar dispositions. ty
TheotherAndy · 41-45, M
I couldn’t agree more, I don’t think they deserve a call back.
Noble · 56-60, M
It begins we’re it ended
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@Noble trying to wrap my mind around what that means...
Carazaa · F
Just because there was a disagreement, and the phone was disconnected doesn't necessarily mean they hung up.
I would call them and say "sorry we got disconnected but let's talk in a few days. I hope you aren't mad at me."
eyeno · M
Had a friend of 20 years, they hung up on me!

Thought about giving them the benifit of a doubt.
Then I realized all the hurtful things they've said and done to me through out the years which I brushed off.

They tried to call and left a message to call back.
My message without saying it is, "I've a right to get angry which I never have and if I can overlook and forgive than so can you !"

But nope, I'm better off with out a Narcissist..,

ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@eyeno I think you made the right decision.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
I would not call them. A text seems to be a low risk, benign solution.
Ironicman · 56-60, M
Nothing worse than an immature partner who sulks. If it's a regular thing cut the ties. Life is short.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
so true. @Ironicman

I say fuck 'em. That type of shit is highschool shenanigans. ┬┴┬┴┤•ᴥ •ʔ/
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@bearinthehalfwayhouse you aptly describe the level of immaturity I’m dealing with. ty
