Do you think the cargo ship stuck in the Suez Canal was done purposely to raise gas prices?

Just read that the ship grounding is having an impact on instant coffee prices in the US. From what I hear there was a pretty bad storm with awful visibility and very strong winds. There isn't a lot of room to maneuver in that canal. My guess is human error caused the problem....and people taking advantage of it will compound the situation.

@PiecingBabyFaceTogether Yeah, and that sucker is wedged sideways tight as a drum. Not sure what direction the current runs, but with ships stacked up behind and in front of her they will have a hell of a time getting tugs in there to push/pull her out. It will be interesting to see how they free her.

@bowman81 I think they are hoping that expected higher tides early next week will help.
@bowman81 Yea it's really stuck. Funny thing is I live here and I only heard about this from SW lol they say the current will rise next week.
I like to think the driver was getting head at the time and he nutted so hard he ruined all global trade

Well, we haven't had a new conspiracy for at least a week, so this is as good a candidate for one as anything else. NEVER go for the obvious when a more convoluted 'explanation' can be invented.

Could be that or maybe even something bigger.

@cherokeepatti I did not.

Gas prices might be the least of the troubles caused by the ship. The Suez exists because it is strategically located.
I bet it’s full of kids

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Don’t think it would be that obvious.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MrBrownstone maybe they didn’t think it would get stuck

Look! It's now the Suez Bridge!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
They are talking about removing the containers off the ship
WillaKissing · 56-60
@cherokeepatti They'll figure it out. Some on some where is not going to like losing the money from the use of the canal!
I don't think so.
I'm sorry to say that was my first thought.
No problem, they called the Dutch to the rescue.
