I had to wear those knee length white socks at school. I hated them 😟 They came off as soon as I was seated on the school bus 🙂

Well, the teachers now haven’t changed. And maybe we haven’t changed that much either. We still run in the corridors! @Oldmanjimbo

@Blodyn Being seen running in the corridor usually resulted in a slippering when I was at school.

These delightful girls in mini gymslips are from Wangaratta HS in Australia, where corporal punishment was still being used per school records. The mind boggles!
funny enough those were uniforms.. here you would get trouble if you wear a skirt that short lol
@Oldmanjimbo the reason i dont wear short skirts like that is cause i suck at sitting ladylike lol
Oldmanjimbo · 90-99, M
@BlackBlossom sitting in a ladylike manner is an important skill for girls to learn

There were too many comments flying back and fore! I was replying to your comment about seeing thighs. We don’t do that now because our skirts are quite long but most kids here have thighs that are ok. Because I swim, mine are seen almost day. It isn’t at all a problem. But some girls are embarrassed about their thighs. So I am pleased that the Department for Education has persuaded the supermarkets to make our skirts knee length. @Oldmanjimbo

Their dresses are so much shorter than our skirts!
Blodyn · 22-25, F
Actually you can’t buy skirts that short now. The schools have been collaborating with the supermarkets. Skirts are knee length. @Mrpauldavies

I agree. Some schools have said all pupils must wear trousers. I cannot because my religion won’t allow it. And skirts are not short now. They are all knee length. @Mrpauldavies

It’s a uniform so many schools had back in the 60s and 70s. It is smart and practical, although would be enhanced by a blazer for more formal occasions.

Blazers are very expensive. My Mam had to wear one. £125. My school badge is on my jumper. @Oldmanjimbo

I am sorry. Certain people have made it impossible for me to have a meaningful conversation with you.
