I Will Take As Many Words As I Want To Write This Story

Moonlight Mile------

I once had a friend on EP that adored 'Moonlight mile By The Rolling Stones. I never really understood that except that she was big Stones fan like I am. And while I like a lot of their music this song only crossed my mind at times. Until her. For a while this song defined her.

Bu that was EP. Times change as do people and life goes on. She is not the girl I once knew there. Be that as it may this is a great song. It is one of the best in transition period of the Stones. That is, when they were morphing from a 60's band into a 70's band. In a way this was a more grown Stones. Reflective, as 'Wild Horses" is.

I post this not for her but yet- in a way I do--as I post this for all who love great classic music and for all that love the Stones. And for those who wish to reconnect with it. Much as I did years back. It is almost perfect.

Enjoy--

One of my favorite songs by the Stones, I too had almost forgot it. Our friend always is so good about things.

Hard to find a more die hard Stones fan than me. I saw them in 1978 at Old Cleveland Stadium- 86,000 + and organized! WOW! That was the "Some Girls" tour.

never saw them, no collection. did like the bbc live album! reminded me there was a very interesting bio of brian jones out last year. he was such a tragic genius. patti smith's favorite stone.
it's a great song.
@DuchessOfMapleSyrup Yes it is. Charlie cannot be better--the lead guitar is awesome and Jagger is spot on.

Dylan has such depth, I thought he petered out in 68 or so, but he has been going strong in 70's 80's 90's and beyond, so much to discover.
@Peaches Thanks. I got this double CD for Christmas this year and have been playing it a lot.

I saw him a few years ago, Elvis Costello was the opening act. Elvis did a great job with good songs and a nice sound. Then Dylan came on with a band dressed up like mariachis and sang so poorly he was impossible to understand and sang old songs with new tunes, very confusing. Only the most dedicated fans "got it" but I didn't know all those obscure songs so well. Oh well, maybe another time.

@Elandra77 Nice, lucky you!😊🎶💿

I love you Elandra77, I thought I was the biggest fan of The Stones. You probably watch and listen to them on youtube as much as I do. You are so right about that song. Thanks for sharing,
@Waymor I have all of their Lp's and 45's. I saw them in concert once , in old Cleveland Stadium in 1978 on the "Some Girls" tour. 86,000 people plus. I could never understand Bill Wyman leaving the group.

I love the movie "Moonlight Mile" with Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon. This song is featured in one place...

awesome flick, and song!
@Platoscave Thanks for finding this and replying! I put up a working copy of the vid--again.*sigh*

The movie was very good. I liked Hoffman since The Graduate, the Mike Nichols film, that I saw in 1967. Susan I find hit or miss. This was a hit.

As for the Stones I think it is one of their best! It speaks to the wandering soul in us. to the discontent heart(and content heart)-it offers destination where life will be good. Just about a moonlight mile down the road.

@Elandra77 I loved the last song in that film too...the "Sweet Thing" song. Van Morrison

I have got an original vinyl of it, complete with real zipon the front,
Great album 👍🏻
@LikeMind Same here. I have a lot of Vinyl. That was a great LP design. And a great LP.

Oh yes...haven't heard this in a long time, love it.🥁🎵🎸⭐🌙
@Peaches Then I am glad I could reacquaint you with it. It is a very deep song, with lyrics almost approaching Dylan level in symbolism.

Now it is one of theirs that is never far from my collective consciousness as far as Stones song's go.
Peaches · F
@Elandra77 I agree and love Dylan too.😊🎼

@SW-User Thanks. This song has a grounding effect to it. it does not let the listener get full or too full of themselves. Yes, it's calming;almost healing.

In hindsight I kinda wish I had posted those ON EP- when she was as she was;that is when I first met her and adored her. Perhaps it was more deserving to be there?
SW-User
@Elandra77 Perhaps.. but that is in the past now. :)
@DuchessOfMapleSyrup It's a great song!
