I Will Take As Many Words As I Want To Write This Story

Moonlight Mile------

I once had a friend on EP that adored 'Moonlight mile By The Rolling Stones. I never really understood that except that she was big Stones fan like I am. And while I like a lot of their music this song only crossed my mind at times. Until her. For a while this song defined her.

Bu that was EP. Times change as do people and life goes on. She is not the girl I once knew there. Be that as it may this is a great song. It is one of the best in transition period of the Stones. That is, when they were morphing from a 60's band into a 70's band. In a way this was a more grown Stones. Reflective, as 'Wild Horses" is.

I post this not for her but yet- in a way I do--as I post this for all who love great classic music and for all that love the Stones. And for those who wish to reconnect with it. Much as I did years back. It is almost perfect.

Enjoy--

One of my favorite songs by the Stones, I too had almost forgot it. Our friend always is so good about things.
@SW-User I had thought she came to SW as well but I may be wrong.

This showed such great insight into the heart by the Stones. By most, it would sound as rambling and incoherent. By them, it makes total sense.

It is one of the best Stones songs. Glad to reacquaint you with it.

Its why I am the only person to like the goats head soup album which took the same soundscapes further
@SW-User But it got lost some place. As if they changed direction and focus halfway through it. Sure there is Angie, Happy and Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) and another- and the rest seem a bit like a different Stones. But I own the Vinyl Lp and like it. But Sticky Finger it was not. (Of course, the Starfucker song was cool
SW-User
Not any comparison, Sticky fingers was one of their top best albums.
@SW-User Sticky Fingers defined HOW they approached the 70's and they did for along time (Until Black and Blue)

The best are

Sticky Fingers
Beggar's Banquet
Let it Bleed
Some Girls
Aftermath
Flowers
England's newest Hit makers The Rolling Stones.

Flowers! that was my high-school depression year sadness album! After I got tired of LIB, I always went back to flowers. Have you seen your mother baby, hiding in the shadows, ride on baby... by the time your're 30 you'll look 65, oh my god.
Some girls? What was on that? I thought the best of the 80's was the three disco singles 12-inch product of Miss You, Emotional Rescue and Undercover of the Night
@SW-User Some has the title song on. Which was like an update version of the 1966 hit "Stupid Girl" in a loose way. "beast of Burden" "Shattered" "Before they make me Rub" No disco on it. That was "Black and Blue". This was the best they were since "Exile on Main Street"

There was 12x5 as well which has some great song on it.

Their first US hit. And this is one of the best harmonies- and best solos they EVER did .

@SW-User And one for you .

@Elandra77 Tell me you're coming... the days of harmonies and guitar picking,
@SW-User It was Mick singing in the Key of C and Keith, Brian and Bill singing in the key of D--and when the stones sang off harmony like that- it was golden.

I miss you!
SW-User
@Elandra77 Aaah, Elandra my dear friend☺ I din't know we had this in common too!
@SW-User i have all the 45's they ever did. AL the Lps- and some imports. And a ton of books on them. Some great- yeah- some no so great. Did you get their new CD yet? This one. A ton of old material. Get this version as it has TWO Cd's.

Hard to find a more die hard Stones fan than me. I saw them in 1978 at Old Cleveland Stadium- 86,000 + and organized! WOW! That was the "Some Girls" tour.
SW-User
never saw them, no collection. did like the bbc live album! reminded me there was a very interesting bio of brian jones out last year. he was such a tragic genius. patti smith's favorite stone.
