@bonviveur I used to hate office parties, because someone would drink too much and say something stupid. One of the funniest exchanges [b]ever[/b] witnessed was when one of the young salesmen who was crushing on our friend (but knew she was gay) came up to her tipsy and said:

"What a waste, you being a lesbian ! It's not like you couldn't get a [b]man[/b] if you wanted..." Before she could reply, another friend, one of the techs, (a gay man about 6'5", 300 lbs) put an arm around the salesman and said, just as loudly:

"I was thinking the [b]same[/b] thing about you being straight ! What a waste; [b]you[/b] could get a man, too..."

Our friends laughed all the way back to the table...

@SapphicHeart Excellent watch... on both questions she covered and to point. My father wasn't alive when I came out. I often think of what he would have thought... and hope that he wouldn't disown me. (Happened with another family member in a devout Italian Catholic family.) My sister cried. My mom told me it was a phase and I hadn't met the right man yet. My sister said she was going to church every week to try to gain understanding. I told her to go to a PFLAG meeting or office. She had no idea what I was talking about. In time, she came around. In time, my mom thought I still hadn't found the right guy. (sigh) But it was great cause and timing for me to question her about a woman my mom spent a lot of time around... wow, what a conversation that sparked. 😨
