Why do you want to get married one day?

I am a Christian and I am a romantic. I wanted to stand up before God and profess my love and loyalty to my husband. The best decision of my life deserved a nice ceremony.

It's not about living happily. It's sort of social promise, and also has legal relevance in most countries.

When you and him/her value your relationship and want to be considered as couple with some promises towards each other and children in the society, you get married. When you both value the relationship so much that you want the relationship to get a legal recognition, you get married.

It's not just about living happily, It's about showing your commitment to the society & law. When your commitment is not between just two of you, when the whole society & law recognizes it, it is called marriage. If you live somewhere where there is no society and law, like in forests, you need not to marry.

The human chemistry is unpredictable. Someday you or (s)he may not be that much happily aligned to the other, there are ups & downs in human behaviour, mood, preferences, likes, dislikes, attractions, hormones, etc.. Then it will be bit easier to break a promise given to individual without any witnesses, marriage is also concerned about future of children.

So I can kill him in his sleep and get his $$$$

i've know people pay upwards of 15-20K on a wedding between dress, venue and catering. that's the price of a marital home or can be put by for emergencies. my dream wedding is going to the office, signing the marriage licence and hitting the pub for the night.

i'm not about to spend years of savings on what is essentially a party that lasts one day.

everyone wants the fairytale but nobody wants to help the poor fairies build their little world so the fairies gave up on the lazy buggers... the end.

I feel major anxiety if I even think of it bc its such a big deal to everyone around me; I really hope society stops pressurising ppl to get married 🙄

I would like to get married. Partly for the sake of tradition but also to have a celebration entirely dedicated to the love I might share with someone. Weddings are the one happy occasion where I get to see family and friends all together having a good time. The only other time they're all together is funerals and they're not exactly happy.

Marriage is an unworkable construct.

I don't. If it happens, it happens and I'll be happy about it, but it's not like a goal.

I wanted to have children, and something was missing in my life - I really wanted to belong. It’s not perfect but I’m not sorry I got married.

I'm not particularly interested in that. Maybe if the right woman wanted that, I'd go along, but it doesn't add anything to a relationship for me personally.

Makes it more official, plus getting engaged is such a beautiful thing. Marriage is just wonderful
