I Have Had a Panic Attack

It was last Sunday and it was my first. It was so horrible.
Today it's two weeks since I found my dad died on his bed. It was the most awful thing I lived before but I could cry, be sad, talk about what he used to say to me and things he did...but suddenly, without expecting I found such a terrible anguish. I couldn't appart from my mind his face when I was calling him. I was so nervous and scared.
Luckily, the doctor arrived a gave a valium shot to me.
I'm worried about having another attack. I suffer anxiety and I'm being treated for that but I nevef had a panic attack before.
What I'm working with meditation didn't help me. I couldn't focus on anything else but the bad I was feeling and trying to look for a solution in vain.
What would you do in these cases?

I am so sorry for what happened, and under such sudden circumstances...now you are under a deep shock,I fear such an attack may repeat. Meditation may for surw help, but you should have some tranquilizer in case it happen again. Taking some relaxing infusion will probably help to
It will take time, but I hope things get better.

Thank you, my friend. It was worse not knowing what I was suffering. I took my tension, my temperature until the doctor told me what it was.
Now, I think I can recognise it.

I'm so sorry. It's totally normal to be experiencing panic attacks after such a tramattic incident. If you feel one coming on, focus on regulating your breath. Calming it through slow inhale and exhales. (((Hugs)))

Thank you for your kind words.
I tried to give a deep breath but I couldn't. I know that this is the best. I also saw in the movies how people put a plastic bag to breath. Not sure if it's a good thing to see.
Still haven't told with my psychologist.

Don't focus on so much deep breathing.. just calming the flow. Sometimes breathing in a paper bag helps. I struggled for years with panic atracks. @twistermind:

I'm sorry your father passed away so suddenly like that. See if time helps, and make sure you keep yourself in good health

Thank you, dear. I revived everything a week ago. But, I'm beginning to learn to live with it.

I have had panic attacks too and though not very often I do concentrate on breathing - sounds obvious but seriously remember to breathe and slowly, deeply if you can just to calm things down.... works for me... best wishes though!!

Thank you. I'm indeed in therapy for my anxiety and other issues. As I mentioned before, I think that I was too much overwhelmed because it was the first time something like that happens to me.

He was 72.
