I Can't Sleep When I Have Too Much On My Mind

Why is it at bedtime my head decides it wants to think about absoloutely bloody everything. Every mistake, every plan, every conversation, and conversations that haven't even happened yet.

I close my eyes but I can't drift off. I fidget rolling from one side to the other.

I wonder if someone was stroking my hair or stroking my back whether I would just sleep. Those are the things i do miss so very much ... But not just anyone can fill that spot for me.

I hope sleep finds me tonight.
At rest is often when we have the time to think. Have you tried starting a new sleep routine? A hot bath. Hot milk or tea. Something with chamomile or passion flower? The latter works for me if I need to sleep. A walk routinely in the evening. And perhaps listening to quiet music. Leave it on while you sleep even on low volume. I am sure having someone with you would help. It would me too, but I don't have that person so I learn to make do. Having an open window helps. Keeping your room cool too as opposed to overly warm or hot. And getting up if one cannot sleep after 20 minutes is a good thing too. Are you physically tired?

I've been doing that all this week - going to be at 11 then tossing & turning til 4, and up again at 6:30. Too much in my head, too much gone wrong.

@firefall I'm going to start changing my routine around to see if that helps. One day at a time

@Holdmyheart I'm planning some Nyquil tonight

Do something physical like yard work - tire yourself out.

@Budwick yeah ... that doesn't work for me

@Holdmyheart Well, at least you tried.
