I Hate Going to Doctors

I get rushed in and out as fast as possible. One doctor told me he LITERALLY has a thousand patients! Another doctor was great, and he is helping me, but gave me half of the usual 10 min. because had had "an emergency meeting." I feel non-existent. It feels insulting.

I am seriously thinking of requesting all future appointments take place over the phone because that way I won't have to drive there and back through traffic, wait in the well named "waiting room," etc. It feels humiliating to me when I feel as if I am putting out more time and effort than the doctor is.

The doctors seem nice enough. But they are overwhelmed with too many patients and, since I am an aging baby boomer, it will only get worse. I don't want to feel so humble anymore.

I actually mess with my clerks
I ask have you ever seen an elderly black grandma get tired of feeling disrespected ?
If they say no I explain how she will show out
The lady who looked after me when I was real little
When she showed out ,,people were jumping waiting on her to get her to shut up and get her out of there

So its the squeaky wheel that gets the oil

I was quiet and meek for 20 yrs while the VA kept sweeping me under the carpet ,and my pain got worse and worse
Never saying it outright ,but I knew they were treating me like I was lying and my pain was in my head
So I finally made a doctor real mad ,and he ordered a full body MRI ,,and was not expecting what it would reveal

Now I have evidence ,not 1 but 2 full body MRI's and a brief case containing all my medical records ,,and they are in order to which part of my body we are dealing with at the moment and my last appointment was an hour long
I am no longer swept under the rug
12 bad discs ,both knees bone to bone ,spurs in both shoulders ,and my spinal cord flattened in 2 places
Yea its not in my head ,and I won't be quit any longer

I made them go over my records with me
A nurse and 2 doctors that Never seen me said I was a drug seeker ,,20 yrs ago ,,and that is why they have treated me that way ,,well now I can prove ,its not in my head and I only have in my system exactly whats prescribed to me

Yea they used to brush me off in 10 -15 min too ,,
not anymore

I went to civilian doctors who have shamed them .now they want to help me ,,but I would not be in this shape had they been helping me when I asked ,and now they know it

@rckt148 I commend and admire your self-assertion. I admit the medical system intimidates and befuddles me.

@greenmountaingal Well for 20 yrs my daughters had to watch Dad decline ,and able to do less and less
but I still have an 11 yr old son
I am not able to play sports with him or do any of the things I did with my girls
But I be damned if he is going to see me resolved to the bed ,I still have a lot to give
I am in a civilian pain management now ,and they looked at my MRI's ,not comments from others who only looked at some crap other doctors put in my records 20 yrs ago when they just wanted to paint me as a drug seeker and trick me into another rehab ,,and dummy me thought if I comply they will see its not me just wanting drugs ,,I could get drugs on the street ,,I needed help ,,I could no longer manage the pain on my own ,,
So now he has added a real nasty rebuke of the VA to my records ,so now the VA wants to manage my pain again
they even sent me narcan thinking I was just going for it ,,
I have a script on file for Narcan already ,,
They want me to admit I am an addict and go into a treatment program where the antiabuse meds will help with pain too
But I am not an addict ,I am in pain ,and now its severe
so my doctor just increased my dosage
I have proven over the last year and a half under his care I do everything asked of me ,I never have anything in my system I am not suppose to have and my MRI's support basically I should not be able to walk ,,but I do
I only need help to make the pain bearable ,I am never out of pain ,,but it can be controlled enough I can live with it
But I won a victory ,,no one is calling me a liar anymore
and I won't be shoved under the carpet ,,
I let them do this until my health has suffered in other area's ..
I refuse to let anyone cripple me again ,I am no longer silent ,,meek and humble ,,this is my child's life
He needs a Dad ,I am fighting for him
yea - I got that too when I had shitty insurance - now that I have better insurance they are suddenly interested in me - oh how the medical profession has degraded itself for big companies - just report them to the Joint Commission -you can file a complaint online if you feel that it is a quality of care problem.
I know what you mean, I have to go twice a week sometimes more. They want you in and out fast as possible. Mine doesn't really listen to me telling him of the pains I'm having, they think you shouldn't hurt. I told him one time I will stab a knife through your foot and then you take a Tylenol and see if that helps you because that's how mine feels. Sometimes you just have to get mad to get there attention. I have one today and I dread it. It's a long drive and two hours just to look at a few skin graphs. That's how it is though. Hope you have better luck with yours

@Footsugar123 No. I am given very little time. I hate feeling rushed. And anonymous.
@greenmountaingal I might see the doctor for five minutes, sometimes like last Thursday he wasn't even there. Is he your regular doctor, the one I see is the surgeon and I know he is always in a rush. If he's your general practice doctor he should give you more time and at least treat you like somebody, know your name at least. I'm sure he checks your chart before seeing you and could act like he knows it. It's all about the mighty dollar and I blame insurance companies for that.

@Footsugar123 I agree. The doctors are often caring but very rushed.

In the US? Interesting I don’t really have this problem and I go to the doctors often cause I’m special 😂

Some time's it just depends how old the doctor is. Some of the younger ones like to rush. Now I have a older doctor and she likes to take her time. I really like that
