I Survived Depression

I was very depressed at one point in my life. 10 years ago the economy in usa went down. It hit my family hard. My dad lost a lot of his business ventures. The value of our house went down to half of when we bought it and we lived there for 5 years. We had to sell the house because of my dad's businesses tanked. We left with the clothes on our back. I wanted to kill myself at this point. I was 15. All my friends were going to high school dances when i was living in a van with my family and could not afford to hang out with them. We couldn't even afford a lot of things that I'm not ready to share yet. I tried looking for jobs near me but no one wanted to hire minors. So i started stealing food at supermarkets and brought to my family. Even started a few hustles (never sold drugs) like sneaking people into movies for a fee. All that money, i used it to buy food and clothes for us. I was 15 doing this. We went from living very good to homeless. Years later, i met some awesome people. These people i have been blessed to call my friends. I got a great job because of them and started a profitable. I'm able to travel the world and soon i will buy my parents' the house they lost with a few rental properties included. All these things wouldn't had happened, if i gave up on life when i wanted to kill myself.

Hope this help....there is much more to life than the problems that you are facing. Life is a gift..please don't waste it.

Wow now THAT is a very positive thing to read today. :) I have felt depression too (mainly anxiety though) and have grown up with no money, having no cable my whole life, my parents getting food assistance, and other kids were not dealing with this. I felt alone and isolated and, 'small'. Now I look at them and they are whiny, and just kind of spoiled, and complain over the tiniest of things. While it seems it was a dark path, it gave us strength, and compassion. That is so wonderful you will be able to buy your parents a house.... Ty for posting this Hug!! ☺

What an incredible story! I work with kids and I really think that the more adversity a person goes through, if they embrace the right mindset, they come out that much further ahead because they've learned valuable lesson from their experiences.
