Is Superman the most overrated superhero of all time?

How dare you. He is a National Treasure and has been around more years than people can remember. Not to mention many people (like me) was a fan of Steve Reeves who gave the character whole new dimensions.

@Grateful4you end stage and early onset of Alzheimers and Dementia aren't laughing matters to me. I work in the medical field, and to see people die of these things is devastating
@SW-User I spent years as a recreational therapist and LOVED my alzheimers. In nursing we often lightened things up with "gallows" humor. I loved and respected these folks and certainly don't intend to demean or minimize the tragedy.
@SW-User BTW; I also won "Best Practices" for my efforts by the Ca.state dept. of health. So I must have been doing a few things right. I continue to lecture now and then.
How does he fly without flapping his arms or kicking his legs at least?
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Ironically, there was always an open window handy so we assumed he was flying, arms straight out. Nothing clumsy even in grade "B" dialogue. black and white, and gee, all Superman had to do was put on glasses and no one guessed he was Superman.

I also think Charlie Brown was an over rated comic strip.
Charles Schulz has been dead over 19 years, yet the local newspaper is reprinting Peanuts. Well, not the good ones from his early days, the ones in the 70's when Woodstock the bird started in them.

If I'm going to subscribe to the newspaper, I want to see new comics, not the ones I've already seen over and over again smh

@Cummmm A few years ago I saw a new Blondie strip and thought, 'I remember that joke from when I was a kid in the 60's'.
Apparently someone else remembered and reported it.

The writer of Blondie was fined heavily for recycling their own strip. It was new artwork, but the same exact words.

I bet it pisses these people off they have to come up with something new every day, whereas the Schulz estate gets the same paycheck from reprints

He's up there, but I think Wolverine is. He's an emotionally immature sociopath with a Napoleonic complex. The tough guy loner thing is a thinly veiled act directed at ignoring his problems.

No matter which team he's on or where in time and space they choose to put him, his solution to every problem is to run at it with his claws. The guy's just a joke with cool powers

Yeah. Feels like the whole kryptonite weakness was tacked on. That being said, the origins were good. The creator based Superman on his father. I think the flying thing came later.

@raysam363 It did

@raysam363 Yeah, he started out being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound,
next thing we know he's flying so fast he can travel through time smh
@Mentalicious And when he landed that curl in the middle of his forehead all in perfect form. I used to jump off the garage roof with one of moms clean bedsheets from the clothes line. I got green stains on it and told her, "It's Kryptonite" I never got in trouble with that plausible explanation.

I thought the attention Luke Cage got on Netflix was a little extreme.
I loved the comic book, but didn't care for the TV show
@Mentalicious As a kid, each week I waited till Saturday to go to Thrifty Drug to sit on a magazine (floor) stand and read all the latest issues, Superman, Superboy, and I think there was a "Lois Lane"...they never made me move so I read EVERY comic on the stand. LOL (Today those comics would be worth a ton of money)

@Grateful4you I had all those comics from about 1970 to 1980.
But I've had all kinds of problems in my life and sold them for dirt cheap to comic book dealer. I'll always hate myself for that.
@Mentalicious Crap happens, we won't even talk about the baseball cards which a Mickey Mantle, or Joe DiMaggio was as common as white bread.

while superhero movies, shows, etc. are fun to watch; they're often chock full of plot holes...

Superman can fly at hypersonic speeds, leap buildings in a single bound, is bulletproof, etc. but he's allergic to a green rock? 🤔
just the most over powered one..
in earler versions, he did not fly so much as jump, and bullets did not hurt him but did slow himdown

You shut your whore mouth. Superman is the greatest superhero of all time.
@SW-User I knew there had to be other loyal fans out there. Thanks Bud.
