No, not really. Although, it does make a super convenient excuse for why things happen.

Coincidences are possible but most things seem to have a way of coming about.

I think what we call 'fate' is actually the direct or indirect results (rewards or consequences) of our own choices and actions. I think it can be conscious or subconscious, and everything we do affects or influences other people and things around us be it good or bad so it can be in our control or beyond it. A life destination can be so subtle in it's coming that it does seem mystical though.

Things don't get done unless someone makes them that way.
