What do i do?

So I've been dating my boyfriend for over 4 years now. We have lived together for a while. What really bothers me is the fact that he doesn't brush his teeth. Most time I refuse to kiss him and this is the main reason why. I've tried to tell him time and time again to brush them but he doesn't. He often gets angry or upset at me if I tell him his breath is bad. It honestly smells rancid.
I brush my teeth just so y'all know. I love him but this is one of my insercuritires about him. His breath is so bad. I can't kiss him at all.
What do I do?
Please help.

Ewwwww. God only knows about the rest of his hygiene. That’s nasty. Move him out.
Degbeme · 61-69, M
Hand him the brush and toothpaste and tell him to use it.
QueenPeach · 22-25, F
Should have bought him teeth brush for Christmas ☺️
Unbound97 · 22-25, F
[@1432,QueenPeach] I have bought him multiple brushes and have bought him tooth paste also. Nothing seems to really stick with him. I've even looked in his mouth to see any cavities before and to no surprise there was. He claimed his teeth were fine because he couldn't feel any pain. I just don't understand him.
Tracos · 51-55, M
That's disgusting....

Tell him the people of the internet are revolted about it, and his dentist is looking forward to fitting his dentures

Buy him a new tooth brush and be like if you don't start using this then I'm gone.

Take him to a dentist and let them explain why it’s crucial
Unmaintained teeth and gums can lead to lots of health issues

And that’s not an insecurity for you
That's so strange. It takes just a minute to brush. I can't imagine what his problem with it would be. If I were you, I wouldn't kiss him, either.

Can you get him to go to the dentist? Maybe it's painful for him to brush. In any case, that's so gross.
Melpomene · 22-25, F
Either send him to a dentist:
1. He probably needs it since he doesn't brush his teeth
2. The bill might remind him that toothpaste and brush are cheaper (and more comfortable) than a dentist;
or try to talk to him and see why he doesn't brush them, if there is any reason etc. and then try to explain to him why it's important. If he doesn't even want to try you might rethink your choices and if you really want to be with a person that doesn't care about his basic hygiene...
BearDownChicago · 36-40, M
That's a deal breaker for me. Doesn't the dentist tell him all the problems including heart conditions from bad oral hygiene?
Unbound97 · 22-25, F
[@362849,BearDownChicago] he's never been to a dentist nor does he even want to see one at that. I've tried convincing him to go to one after I had to get $2000 worth of work done to my own teeth. He didn't want a bar of it.
BearDownChicago · 36-40, M
[@1058205,Unbound97] wow that's pretty crazy. I hate going to the dentist but recognize it's very important. For me, it is ine of those things that I couldnt deal with. As much s it pains, I would have to leave
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
Ultimatum. Don't let him touch you or have any sort of physical contact, especially sex unless he thoroughly brushes his teeth.
BeepBeep · 26-30, F
[@622788,SumKindaMunster] yeah eww your vagina would probably get an infection if he went down on you

[@1058205,Unbound97] I guess there are other things you like about him that made you date him for so long

[@1058205,Unbound97] you don't even kiss him. Oh well, there goes my idea of a pressure tactic
MarkPaul · 22-25, M
Brush his teeth for him... like a dog. Or... leave him.
Drewman · 41-45, M
Put some toothpaste on your tongue and brush his teeth with it.
Kingfish28 · 26-30, M
I don't see the problem.

if he refuses to brush try mouthwash better than rancid ,he may poor gums which bleed when he brushes, mouthwash at least .🙃
Unbound97 · 22-25, F
[@644861,english] I remember getting him to brush before; his gums did bleed. I can only guess that's the reason why he doesn't do it. He also complained that it hurt as well to brush. I'll see how I go with mouth wash. Is there any good brands which won't burn him if he uses it?
english · 51-55, M
[@1058205,Unbound97] try the peppermint but moist have an alcohol content sol look for the least ,🤔

🤔....I don't know what to say, except I'm going to go brush my teeth now since I just woke up and That's the first thing I do.

The very BEST thing you can do is get a pamphlet from the dentist's office which explains what can happen if you don't take care of your teeth or brush them. If he has gingivitis due to poor oral hygiene he could transmit it to you.

However, some people just naturally have horrible breath and there is almost nothing they can do to stop it. It's because they are constantly producing sulfur in their own stomach.

There is a mouth rinse now that is supposed to kill ALL horrible bad breath stenches for 24 hours. You should buy him a bottle...I think it's called Smartmouth.
Unbound97 · 22-25, F
[@387713,4meAndyou] literally one of the most helpful comments here thus far. Thank you so much. I'll see what I can do.

[@1058205,Unbound97] You're welcome. A friend of mine said his sister suffers from horrible breath and it's horrible right after she brushes her teeth. He asked me if I knew of any cures and at the time, I didn't. Then I saw this product on television, and I said...Wow...they are fixing EVERYTHING now...😂
Rickg · 26-30, M
Wait till he falls asleep and then brush his teeth
Miram · 26-30, F
Tell him there is a woman named Miram, who has perfect teeth, brushes every day and is interested in you.

She is also completely and without a doubt, not asexual.

Did I mention that I have great hair?
MarkPaul · 22-25, M
[@542305,Miram] No, a liar being accused of more lying. 😑
Miram · 26-30, F
[@8638,MarkPaul]

You have some serious issues. You literally lied to me about your suspension and you dare come here to accuse me of your own stupid actions?

Do you just wake up in the morning and decide to be an ass and harass me?

Let it go and move on.
Miram · 26-30, F
[@8638,MarkPaul]

I am posting this here for others to understand your actions and motivation.

I will no longer waste a single minute on your likes from now on

Is there a reason he gives for not brushing them, sensitive teeth maybe. I had a friend who breath was very bad to, it wasn't the teeth making the smell because the person didn't have any. It was there stomach causing the bad smell because they didn't go poo maybe once a week or two. I would say something everytime I smelled it but there wasn't anything they could do except try to use the restroom more, taking something to help them go and it wouldn't stink for a few days. I told this just to let you know that it might be something other than his teeth, but if it is mouth wash would help, not as good as brushing but he's got to start some where.
Unbound97 · 22-25, F
Hey y'all have an update.
I confronted him tonight about the brushing his teeth.
He told me the reason why he doesn't do it is because he forgets; it was never turned into a habit when he was a child. Also his lame excuse was also He hates the taste of mint 😂
So we discussed mouthwash and next grocery shop we are buying some for him.

Also he actually brushed his teeth tonight! So proud I feel like I actually hit a milestone with him.

Thank you everyone for the helpful tips and advice 😊
[@1058205,Unbound97] Great news!
Unbound97 · 22-25, F
Thanks guys 😊 I'll look into different toothpaste flavors if I can.
[@1058205,Unbound97] even water would be better then nothing. Getting him into the habit is what you want right now. Your on your way to doing that, just have to remind him for a little while
AirForce687 · 31-35, M
Take him into the bathroom, sit him in front of the sink and brush his teeth yourself. It's what I would do.
