I know sometimes I say mean things but I try to be as nice as I can. I’d like to think I don’t insult people over silly discussions but I can heated so I’m guilty of that. @gurlwatcher22
Religion still has a very small place in society. Despite religion's generally antiscientific and tribalistic nature, religion is capable of making people feel better in the short term. It makes sense to have a small subset of the population worship, but do so understanding that their faith is for the benefit of themselves and not grounded in objective reality. What's outdated is the view of religious figures and concepts as actual things in reality rather than tools for processing the human experience in a way that's acceptable to us.
Some people are religious and it helps them -- I really don't wanna take that away from them. But in order to prevent religiosity from getting out of control and hurting people, we've got to uphold responsible worshipping practices.
Outdated or not, I feel like it brings people comfort and hope within a community or by themselves. As long as they don't try to impose their beliefs heavily on me or anyone, I don't mind it at all.
@Spoiledbrat who ever said they're evil because of that? I feel like you're not understanding what I'm saying. I didn't say anyone is evil for believing or not believing in a religion.
As I see it, religion for the most part is a means of social control hiding in the guise of religious leaders set of morals.
What is unfortunate is that those very morals used by the religious leaders also guide the direction of the governments laws. This is how they control society.
You can see this in every religion throughout the world and in every country throughout the world as well throughout all of history.
So is religion out dated? A better question is just how the heck can religion be separated from government and the governments laws and the very documents that form those governments.
Then figure out what really is a just means of morals to be used to form governments and those governments laws.
So, as I have said so many times before, whose morals should be used?

Religion can give people a feeling of comfort and peace I have nothing against that as long as they don't shove it down other people's throats.
It explains, to the easily worried, all the scary, mystical, unknown and hard to think about things and reassures them so that they don't freak out, run around in the dark and smash into trees screaming!
