Ever get stopped at a store and asked if they can pray for you?

I usually let them, as I know they mean well. But it's really extremely awkward.

Agreed. I pray for people all the time, sometimes complete strangers, but I always do that silently or in my private time of prayer. I don't think God needs a public fuss. I know it's well-intentioned, but I find it condescending, as if the person wanting to pray for you has some inside track with God you don't have yet.

Please. Go home and pray for yourself!

No? Does this actually happen?🤔
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@NickiHijab about three times just this year. One of them tonight when I had to go pick up car food at the store.
NickiHijab · F
@ViciDraco one of who? I'm only asking because this doesn't really happen here lol.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@NickiHijab usually Christians. Tonight was someone who was also trying to evangelize Kenneth Copeland's ministry. Which is when I really felt sorry for them. He's one of the Christian mega-pastors on television who gets very, very rich from it all.
It's happened a few times. Like you, i knew they meant well and it seems to give them comfort and they feel like they're able to "do something" about a bad situation. Now if they start trying to pray demons out of me, I'd probably try to give them an exorcism type show 😂

Noo, I've had it said condescendingly to me though... Like, "I'll pray for you," after I've said/done something they don't like.
NickiHijab · F
@JupiterDreams ew, that's the worst.

Hell no. I'd be scared everyone would start screaming at me and say I oppress them
Thankfully no. That would disturb me frankly.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
No, and if they did I would refuse it.
xixgun · M
Yep. I said, “Yeah sure, go ahead”
Lindaisfun · 26-30, F
Yeah. I let them as well.
