Do you ever find people interesting from a distance ?

I think getting to know them would just ruin it

The fantasy is always more romanticized and you have more control over it. Reality is usually a good ruiner of that, it's up to you to think who's worth the risk and who's better off remaining as a fantasy.

@Stark I'm glad you found it helpful. It's definitely a complex topic with no easy answers..

Thank you for BA. :)
@SW-User yeah, there were many great answers. I haven’t been myself in a really long time, I’ve had a negative outlook on anything and everything even this topic is pretty negative or atleast I made it negative. Your answer was just really positive and spot on, maybe people just rather the fantasy over reality because it’s just easier and makes more sense but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better.

@Stark If you haven't watched it already, there's a very good exchange on this very topic in Good Will Hunting, I think it says it perfectly.

Fantasies have their own consequences too, though. They also can be too hard to get over if you've invested in them so much for too long.

There's living in dreaming but there's also living in reality, it's okay to do both, it can be a neat balance. :)

I think people are fascinating from any angle. The only difference is, we see the cracks in them the closer they get.
And those cracks I find fascinating too.

@Stark Thank you.
People are always more interesting up close :o from a distance people look like blobs to me.

@DarlingSelah 😂 Funny, but true figuratively as well as literally.
@DarlingSelah 🤣 you’re so funny. I was speaking more of personality than appearances. For example, brief interaction with someone occasionally but not enough to figure them out but enough to be curious about them.
@Stark some people, yeah. Its rare for me though. Theres so much more to people than what they put out there.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
I find people fascinating in general. Even ones I don't like. 🤷

@Stark Meh. Creepy as it may sound, I think it largely comes down to that I'm a writer, I'm always at least subconsciously picking people apart and finding their traits and motivations, trying to extract their character and voice to then be able to make realistic multi-faceted characters of my own from.
@UndeadPrivateer I don’t think that’s creepy.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Stark Haha, it always sounds creepy to me when I say it but I don't think there's a much better way to phrase it. lol. Thanks.
Allelse · 36-40, M
Yeah and then more often than not I get to know them and its like ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know they either pull out a cigarette or start with "You know, vaccines cause autism, yes they do, I read about it online". And its all downhill from there.
SW-User
@Allelse Umm?
Allelse · 36-40, M
I take it you watch alot of Steven Seagal.
SW-User
@Allelse You were very insulting and now lacking a lot of meaning. I guess this is another one of your facts, but I won't moan about we got off on the wrong foot.
SW-User
This is why I don't make friends.
@SW-User literally.
SW-User
That’s true but only sometimes. Because sometimes I really wish to get to know other persons because I find them interesting and want to know more and more about them.
@SW-User those are the one in a million. There’s millions who may seem interesting but actually aren’t and then there’s that one person who’s just fucking brilliant even after breaking that distance.
SW-User
@Stark yeah.. true
silkandlace · 46-50, M
I love people watching, very very interesting! Not creepy, just wonder what's actually going on with them
@silkandlace omg. I use to do that all the time I do it more on here than I do in person. I use to do it in person a lot it’s nice
whateverhappens · 26-30, F
on here ? haha sometimes usual just turn out to be the chill... only one was different
@whateverhappens on here or in person doesn’t really matter. I do agree many users on here are...the same on here
whateverhappens · 26-30, F
@Stark in person id watch from afar but when people are with their friends their true colors show so wouldnt take long or be hard to figure them out
SailorMarz · F
I feel that way about myself
@SailorMarz I think it’s just the high expectation people have towards you makes you feel that way.
SW-User
You are correct!!!
Only everyone. 😌
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
It never matters to me
@Jackaloftheazuresand Figuring them out as in getting to know them, you don’t just automatically know people you get to know them. Some people I care to get to know, some I don’t, and some I don’t want to know because I have this idea of them already created in my head of how they are that I don’t want ruined.

Are you saying you’re just not interested in getting to know people at all?
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
Some people can accept any physical appearance, well I can accept any personality. It comes from a core flaw in myself where I can't trust anything to be permanent or true.
BatRinseRepeat · 31-35, F
It's not stalking if they don't see you staring.
SW-User
It’s safer, right?
@SW-User only because they just end up being disappointing.
