Level 1: A lot of self loathing until time passes.

Level 2: Talk to closed ones who will uplift you.

Level 3: Journalling. Finding out the reason why you could not have acted in any other way. (Usually because of lack of awareness) Or, finding out the roles played by other entities and humans. Finding out ways to make them right if there is. Or finding out whether you are feeling guilty because you are manipulated to feel that way from your childhood or if it is actually something so bad you did. Either way, journalling will make you feel like you are in charge of your emotions.

Level 4: Meditation and mindfulness. This makes you just rise above your emotions. As Einstein said, the consciousness which created the problem cannot solve it. You have to move up a level.

Ideally, Level 4 is where you should be looking at but depending on what you can do you choose the action.

P.S. I handled my guilt after my friend's suicide by a bit of every action in all of those levels.

I find that guilt is a waste of time, unless it's because you have intentionally set out to cause hurt to someone and now feel regret.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Orlbe I used to be a big fan of thinking, but I realised that it's too easy to get lost within ones own mind and maginfy the fears and doubts that lurk there.

Distract yourself enough, take the focus away from them, and they fade away xx

@Quizzical Being here has helped a lot...And I thank you for your support 🤗

I just don't care or if I do actually care and feel guilty I just repeat it to myself over and over I did the right thing and best thing for me. Eventually you can convince yourself you were right even if you were wrong if you do it enough. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@SW-User Now that I am trying and hoping it works
That doesn’t work because our subconscious knows what we’re capable of and if we’ve tried our best. It knows when we can or could have done better. Everything we do adds up and in the end we will face it. We all do. It’s just a matter of when. Sometimes we do destructive things or go to great measures to not own up to our failures because then we’d have to face it and sometimes that hurts too much. So for own protection we can only face it when we are ready. @SW-User

@Spoiledbrat Please read my last post about the ex
I deal with it a lot in my life because I've felt that everything that had happened to me was my fault.
@Orlbe Thanks. I needed that.

@DaveStevenson It makes two of us :)
@Orlbe I have been keeping so much bottled up and now I can't keep it in anymore.

I don't think there's such a thing as a mindset than can get rid of guilt "fast".

What I do know though is that it's surprisingly easy to con a less-mature person into thinking they've done something wrong when in actual fact they haven't. If you think that situation might apply to you what you need to question is whether you were thinking like an adult when "the situation" arose - or whether unbeknown to you someone more mentally mature than you was manipulating the situation so that they appeared to be the innocent party.

Past is what not in your control anymore, its what only you dragging with yourself while present is what in your hand don't waste it for what you cant change

It's a process, you need to practice letting go, continue on a better path, and of course make known to whoever it concerns your sincerest apologies.

Lemme know when you figure it out

In your situation, you can’t worry about hurting someone who hurt you. You’re making it so they can’t hurt you again.

They will use this to manipulate you. Trust me. I’ve done it.
