What's the one thing that sticks in your mind that a parent said before going out on a date?

If you aren't home by curfew (10 pm), I am locking the door and you won't be allowed inside. My brothers had no curfew, Trace, and they had keys to the farmhouse door. Couldn't make it home by that time as it took one hour to walk into town and one hour back. I did sleep in an unlocked car on the property until they found out. Then I just didn't come home. It wasn't fair.

@PoetryNEmotion I slept out on the porch swing...lol
@traceavery We didn't have a porch! LOL.
Don’t come home pregnant
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout How on earth did you carry it for 9 months, considering that you don't have a uterus??? 😮
magic.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Lmao! That's what my dad told my sister before she hangs out with her boyfriend.
My Catholic mother took me to the doctor and put me on the pill before I went away to college. I insisted I wasn’t “doing” anything and she said, “I understand, but you’ll be far away from home, and you might meet someone you like. I don’t want your life ruined.”

@bijouxbroussard Your mother was a realist too. How many girls got away from home and went crazy with no parental control then ended up in trouble?
Be home before 9pm when I was 16 then I protested after a while and stayed out till 11pm when the cinema closed. I practically had to run home ...to be on time..

@Cutiepi23 I remember challenging the curfew hour a time or two... my dad would lock the door and a night out on the porch would be the result!
@traceavery That wasn't good. Hope you weren't cold.
I got the cold treatment if I was late. They wouldn't speak to me for weeks. I was such an innocent 16 to. Still annoys me thinking back.

Nothing was never given dating advice. Only told how popular my mother was and witnessed how popular my father was...
traceavery · 70-79, M
@Peppa You missed out... never could figure out why parents didn't trust the kids... then I became a parent of a teen!

@traceavery my mum just told me no dating, at 17 I started hiding what I was doing I have a very busy dating life.
I just wanted to know what sex was like. As I didn't believe I was good enough to date anyone.
They said nothing, but I knew I had to be home before 10 pm..

@SageWanderer My parents just told me hell awaits those that have sexual relations outside marriage almost messed up my teen years!
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@traceavery My parents were realists. They knew what could happen so my dad handed me a condom and said, "Your too young to be a father, and we're too young to be grandparents". So if it happens use it!
