Could this whole pandemic situation have been prevented somehow?

it is a brand new virus right? how can people slow it down when no one really knew what we were dealing with at the start?
I think like most viruses it has to run its course before it slowly goes away.

I really do dislike how it has basically turned into a political weapon to make opposing sides look bad. Instead of fully focusing on a cure, people in power are just playing the blame game to win a election

In hindsight repatriating people from Wuhan was a huge mistake.And no other pandemic has been managed like this one.Others have just been allowed to take their course with infected people quarantined.But this one-lockdowns are just ensuring it will never go away.
