I Am Not Voting

I honestly think voting is pointless in most states. Let’s be honest here, you’re vote only has real influence in swing states and if you fall within the 2 party system. Otherwise, it’s just a waste of time. But you know, that’s just my opinion.
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
Your vote is your voice. It isn't shaking windows, winning or losing, or right or wrong...it's your voice. And, there are other parties on the ballots. Just because they are not "paid attention to" does not mean you cannot vote for them. The results will show the numbers for all candidates which, in turn, will show the other parties they have work to do to earn your vote.
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
That's your opinion. And how great is it that we live in a country where you can voice it! Just like voting!!!
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@Pinkstarburst yeah I said in the original post that this was all my opinion,
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
@TonyPajamas Not voting is what oppressors wants from you. So they are legitimated to take decisions against you, that you had a chance to change, but you simply didn't.
black4white · 56-60, M
Then if you don’t exercise your right ... to vote then you cancel your right to complain about what’s happening in the government
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@black4white that sounds like a lame excuse. If you truly thought that, you wouldn’t have even replied to this post. It just seems like you have no real argument now.
black4white · 56-60, M
@TonyPajamas using your argument... my view don’t matter your mind is made up so why waste time
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@black4white well you’re still here wasting time, why haven’t you taken your own advice and go? 😂
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
This... again?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TonyPajamas No, you.
TonyPajamas · 22-25
Okay. Bye. @MarkPaul
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@TonyPajamas Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
WelshLovely · 46-50, F
If the proportion of people who don't vote because it doesn't make a difference actually voted, guess what? It would make a difference!

As far as I'm concerned, if you don't vote then you don't have a right to bitch or whinge about the outcome because you did nothing to make any difference.
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@WelshLovely you’re assuming the government actually listens to votes, which I don’t believe. Popular vote doesn’t matter. It’s the electoral college.
hlpflwthat · M
The election at your local level has far more impact on your life than the national races - have you considered that? Those officials determine the quality of your schools, police force, water supply and countless other mundane topics.

You have more influence where it matters. I urge you to wield it.
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@hlpflwthat well I have well water, so I don’t need to worry about that and I already graduated, nor do I call the police for shit. And I deadass don’t believe voting effects anything. Why would I do something that I honestly believe influences nothing?
hlpflwthat · M
@TonyPajamas After reading this reply, you've convinced me - it would be best for everyone if you do not vote.
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@hlpflwthat good, I’m glad we’re on the same page.
Lion1776 · 51-55, M
Every vote counts. Lots of areas have close results. So every vote counts
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@bluesmanmark well I truly believe voting has not effect. So why do something if it does nothing? That’s just stupid. Voting will change nothing but if that illusion comforts you, I’m glad. 👍
bluesmanmark · 46-50, M
The only stupidity I've seen in this thread are your pathetic excuses & inane rationalizations for not voting. Goodbye.
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@bluesmanmark well you’re entitled to think I’m stupid. It’s not like I don’t think that about the rest of you.
Soxs45 ·
Not true a lot of indepents in races they can win. Also I saw on another comment the electoral college is only for presidential election. Thats so small states are equally represented. Basic Civics
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@Soxs45 i understand civics. I thought we all knew I was talking about presidential elections here. I assume implied knowledge. What happens when I support no candidate? Oh, that’s it, me not voting.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
Will you just stop talking already? We understand that you would rather let other people decide for you...we get that being a coward is easier.

And no. No you don't get to have thoughts and opinions on the government when you do not participate in exercising your right. You forfeit that right.
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@JaggedLittlePill you know you’re not obligated to read my posts? And yes I get to have thoughts and opinions, it’s kind of my right as an American citizen. Just like I have the right to not vote.

Hallelujah. Thank something there’s two of us. Agreed . All bullshit unless you’re rich and white
unknownpoetx · 36-40, M
makes sense. why would you vote? let others choose your future. much better than way. freedom of choice? nah that would bee stupid
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@unknownpoetx I’m not a Republican or Democrat, and New Jersey is a Blue state. I understand that it comforts you to believe that you get to have some choice in how the government is run, but you don’t. Do you honestly think any of your votes matter? How do you get that old and believe that? 😂
unknownpoetx · 36-40, M
poor thing. doesn't know how democracy works. go back to school. oh wait nvm schools suck because stupid people that don't vote don't change things.
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@unknownpoetx if you were so smart, you would know we don’t live in a Democracy. The USA is a Republic. Hence why we have an electoral college and we don’t go by popular vote.
I live in a jurisdiction that always goes Democratic and I'm a Democrat. So what's the point of voting in my case?
TonyPajamas · 22-25
Then don’t then, no ones going to force you. That’s your right as an American citizen. My point is not supporting a system I’m against. I agree with no political party enough to want to vote for anyone. I’m not supporting something I don’t believe in. @FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
Vooote. Do it for me...
TonyPajamas · 22-25
@Sharky86 nooo. Jersey is Democrat state and Democrats are gay.
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
I don't believe that your voting has any significance due to first of all, I'm Christian and hold hope for saving in no human, but only in God.

And second, because it's almost definitely corrupt and not really up to you (someone who has no eyes in the actual process nor actual power).
