Do you ever get the urge to load your favorite vehicle and just hit the road?

How long would you like to he gone for? Would you have a destination in mind or just pick a direction and go?

I got in my car on Saturday to get out of the house. I wasn't sure where I wanted to go. I didn't come back until Sunday night. I had a great time.

If I had an RV like yours, I would travel for 3 weeks to one month at a time and plan some really cool tours and dining experiences. There is some awesome country to be seen, and if you drive to Las Vegas you can pick up a private plane and fly directly over the Grand Canyon. Imagine that video!

In my time I have toured the Coors brewery, famous glass blowing works, various wineries, and I have attended some awesome rock and mineral shows. (Jewelry for sale at awesome prices!). I have attended antique shows such as May's which spread out over an entire town with such fervor that we had to stay overnight...and I have seen a candy factory in operation.

You can actually buy an old fashioned Road Atlas, and points of interest are marked on it for every single state, and you can also google "things to see and do in Such and Such city or state".

@Stereoguy There were bell ropes. The bells would ring in the servants quarters, as I recall.

@Stereoguy Long time for that
Ideally, I want at least 2 months. Pack up a 5th wheel trailer or RV. Head to New Mexico, then through the southwest through Texas toward Arizona, finally California.

Really want to spend time in Nevada.
@Stereoguy Oh yes. Primed, ready for battle stations! And it's always hyper exaggerated in sleep. God forbid you never locate it's source, you lie awake those next 2 hours imagining all sorts of things.😄

I usually get a hot drink in a dark kitchen. Lucky if it gets me drowsy.

@Stereoguy Only come to find it was the silly cat all the time, shadowboxing in the downstairs hallway.

So what's got you awake tonight?

No sense of adventure in your old age? Yeah me too. I’ll ride along way on a motorcycle but at the end of the day I want a shower and a normal bed.

@Stereoguy Comforters need to be dry cleaned. If they are not heavily quilted, washing them causes the fill to clump up and it ruins them. I have two heavily quilted quilts, and I can wash them myself and they are never ruined.

That sounds great, once spring arrives. I'd head west until I find mountains and spend a week camping and hiking and driving.

@Stereoguy I'm getting too old and brittle to feel completely comfortable backpacking alone anymore, so I'd be inclined to set up a base camp and do day trips.

all the time
I'd open a local map and point and go
I can just go scope a place out for one overnight stay/not packing involved
and if I like it, I return for longer

Just get on the road. Cross a state line and stop at a welcome center, pick up information and plan from there.

No, I enjoy driving, but would always need a destination. 🤔

@Stereoguy Nope neither. The destination must be part of a plan and I don't pick a destination just because I feel like driving.

@Stereoguy well... see, the problem is-- the easiest way to get lost is to not know where you're going. And if you follow the sun... you can always be sure you're coming back

I took a wrong turn and I just kept going
