Should the States build a wall to keep out the immigrants?

TexChik · F
To keep out illegal immigrants , terrorists , drugs , human traffickers... yes. Legal immigrants obey the law and go through the process
Pfuzylogic · M
trump could use something called “advisors”. He would benefit from a state department with active diplomats.
For some reason he has challenges acting presidential about anything domestic or international.
Pfuzylogic · M
@Longleggedlady
I wish he would go away, far away to a country he can serve, some third world country where they tolerate hucksters.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic Because asshole I live in the part of Europe REAGAN HE LIBERATED FROM THE COMMUNISTS AND RUSSIANS! EVERYBODY HERE KNOWS THAT EVEN IF GENIIUS LIKE YOU DONT! UNLESS SHIP'S COOKS KNOW MORE ABOUT IT THAN HAVEL, WALESA AND OTHER EAST AND CENTRAL EUROPEAN LEADERS YOU OBVIOUSLY NEVER HEARD OF! THAT'S HOW!

I told you but us d too many multi-syllabic words for you to understand that MASSES are said in KRAKOW CATHDRAL for the soul of Pres. Reagan on the anniversary of his death...but what do the religious in Krakow Cathedral know as compared to a 22 year veteran of a ship's kitchen brigade? Every capital in Central Europe has a major street or square named after him but what do WE know as opposed to you?

I have helped you make an ass out of yourself for the last time. From now on do it on your own.

PS - NEVER was a username better chosen than yours...and you proved it again tonight!
Pfuzylogic · M
@Abrienda
Why did you start this emotional outburst on someone as useless on Ronald Reagan. I will never understand people from outside of the US that believe they deserve a place in the discussion of our internal politics. I served my country so that citizens decided who was worthy of praise. He hurt a lot of American people and therefor deserves derision.
Magenta · F
I think the purpose is to keep out far more than simply "immigrants". We already have proper and legal ways to come into the country via ports of entry. Should they be allowed to sneak in the back, and not come in following the laws of the land?
No country allows unrestricted access into their country.

We don't allow just anyone into our homes, any way they choose to come in. Plus, many of the people so adamant against it, have locked doors, fence, gates and body guards for themselves. A little hypocritical.

Not that I am necessarily for a wall, but it needs to be dealt with or it will become chaos.

Just my view... and I'm not an American ... blah blah blah....

I don't understand where anybody starts to think they have the right to stop someone going to live somewhere? I get doing it legally and all that but look at where I live (UK) wave upon wave of immigrants over the centuries. Romans, Anglo Saxons, Vikings, Normans (old Vikings just living somewhere else by then anyway)

Then the Portuguese that brought us fish n chips which we consider our national dish.
To the recent West Indian and Asians who came from our old colonies to help us run "the mother nation". And to now the Europeans we've enjoyed coming here for 40 years to help again make our country grow and flourish.

So what's English? Often those arguing for closed borders themselves come from families that only recently relocated here (relatively speaking like a couple of hundred years).

In America it is a nation of immigrant - only a couple of percent is the indigenous people who were there before the pilgrims and the settlers through the 16th to 20th century.

I just think it all makes a place better if you have lots of people coming to your country and integrating but bringing a bit of their culture too.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User Yeah Numskull - that's exactly what I said. [not]
SW-User
@Budwick So I fail to see your point. My point being that the so called Pakistani rape gangs are a small number of the over pedophile cases we have far more pedophiles in the white British population that's my point. To believe limiting immigration will significantly lower crime just isn't credible.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User
So I fail to see your point.
I am not at all surprised.

You had made a special effort to point out that,...
the vast majority of pedophile cases in the UK are still convicting white UK born men.
You may be getting a different demographic of illegal immigrants than we do in the USA. But, we kind of think that being illegal immigrants is enough of a reason to take some special interest in them. And, the fact that areas where barriers have been used, crime dramatically dropped - well, then why not? The reduced Pakistani rape gangs and pedophiles are just a bonus!
Budwick · 70-79, M
Should the States build a wall to keep out the immigrants?
No, just the illegal ones.
And, the drug traffickers.
And, terrorists.
And, human traffickers.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@TexChik
Texas is already building
That's just ONE reason I love Texas - AND Texans.
You guys are always large and in charge.
Texans have a swagger that they have earned!
You go girl!
TexChik · F
@Budwick and we have a Governor that’s a hard core conservative. He put gun boats on the Rio Grande when Mexicans started shooting at sportsmen. Those boats have twin 50s!
Budwick · 70-79, M
@TexChik
Those boats have twin 50s!
THERE!
That's what I mean!
Texas is just the best!
Thank you.
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
It might be better if you built one all around the whole of it to keep Americans in
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@WindOfAdolf they are not running away they are leaving g because they cannot for whatever their reasons live there with your present President
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Longleggedlady You know, we were threatened with many that would leave if President Trump was elected.

[big]They're still here![/big]

Is there anything you can do to keep them true to their word?

My God the wall is NOT meant for "immigrants" but for ILLEGAL immigrants. The Czech Republic helps patrol Hungary's border wall with Serbia (which works by the way) to keep illegals out at the same time I am half way through the process of securing citizenship there. Of course I am doing it LEGALLY but then such things as citizens demanding people follow their laws doesn't seem very important to a lot of people here

Walls of hate and of other undesirable qualities exist currently. There must be a better way.
@WindOfAdolf
why do you think I detest Israel? I admire them.

Do you know of a list somewhere?

@WindOfAdolf And it seems at least 2 percent of the 8 percent want to help them do it.

Since most immigrants don't come in through the southern border, a wall wouldn't really help. More technology, more manpower and better processing of immigrants we do get, would be helpful.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Heartlander They might know WHO, but they have no idea where. Do you think all the overstays just hang out at the address they gave to the government and wait for ICE to show up?

Its not meaningless at all, you just don't like what the numbers say, so hence "they are meaningless"
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Pherick They are two different issues. It's like you are saying that the police shouldn't be wasting time with bandits robbing the corner grocery store because there are swindlers stealing billions via internet fraud.

Visa overstays are protected by sanctuary cities and states. Fixing that issue will take different steps. Interestingly, I don't see very many Democrats or their media propaganda outlets wanting to fix that issue, yet they use it as a reason why a wall is unnecessary.

If it wasn't for the human suffering, this would be a joke.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@Heartlander The point is if the number of visa overstays is larger than the number of people apprehended at the border then what good would a wall do? Border crossing illegal immigration is going down and has been for years.

So why not focus money and effort on things that actually provide border security.

Your example only works if I want police to not worry about the 10 bandits when there are thousands of swindlers. Then your example works. Its a question of resources and where best to use them

@Budwick hey bud.
Hope you are well.
I must ask you...why is it that you compliment young people for their intellegence only when they are in line with your own beliefs? A bit one sided, dontcha think?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carla
why is it that you compliment young people,.... only when they are in line with your own beliefs?
What a peculiar question!
I suppose it's because it never occurred to me to compliment someone, of any age with whom I disagree.

Seems to me that you're reaching pretty deep to try to find fault.

I'm doing fine, BTW. Kind of energized after last nights STOTU speech. A really good, pump up USA fest, dontcha think? Both sides of the aisle were applauding - well, not ALL the time, after all the Wicked Witch OF The House might see!
Carla · 61-69, F
No. I found it on the surface, @Budwick.

Anyhow...im glad you are well.

Yes..45 said some uplifting things. Statements to applaud. Too bad it was laced with so much dishonesty, fearmongering and threats.

No,but they should to help keep out illegal immigrants. For such the same reason why I have a fence around my back yard, and why I have a front door that's locked.
WoodyAq · M
No. It's cheaper to help their countries prosper so they don't come in the first place.

@WindOfAdolf The first thing you do is end the "war on drugs" and start treating the issue as a domestic public health problem, rather than a foreign military war. Then the cartels have no money.

Second, you stem the flow of American guns to central America, so the cartels aren't so well armed.

Third, you encourage free trade, within central America, and between central and North America. Movement of goods is a substitute for the movement of people.

There are other things we can do too that will help on the margin and are more cost effective than a wall.

But it would be easier for them to help themselves if our drug problems and our gun issues weren't having such a huge negative impact on them.
BobbyMcGee · 61-69, M
A bit late, arent you?
Several hundred million immigrants have flooded into the country the last five hundred years.
We should build one around each state as a back up in case the aliens have trebuchets.

Dlrannie · 31-35, F
No - just to keep its citizens in 😂😂
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
you missed the word illegal.
No.Because it won't work unless it's too deep to dig under ,too tall to get over and monitored along its entire length 24 hours a day.And if it did work they would come by boat instead.Quite popular in Europe.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales human traffickers
