Fifty years ago guns were carried on high school campuses

There were no mass shootings. Today there are mass shootings. What happened?
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
70 years ago, we had segregation. Today, we don't have that.
30 years ago, the only way to call someone on the phone was to used a wired device.

Back in the days of ancient Rome, most murders were not investigated.

100 years ago, people died of "natural causes" when they were quite young, mostly because we didn't really know what cancer was.

50 years ago, it was actually quite difficult to obtain a high capacity weapon, so the guns civilians carried were not capable of delivering the devastation capable of some easily-obtained weapons today.

50 years ago, there wasn't instant-view news. The coverage of the Kennedy assassination and the Viet Nam war brought things into our living room that were never possible. Human beings now have instant access to breaking news, which means that anyone with a message, regardless of how irrational, can have that message delivered instantly.

Funny thing about things. Things change over time. We learn things. We evolve.

Some rules of life that made perfect sense even 20 years ago are no longer relevant.

Tell me, what was the point of your question?

@JoeyFoxx Household gun ownership has gone down in recent decades. I can post sources if you want.

Annd crickets lol

@BigHeadScience sorry that I can’t shop and post at the same time.

Household gun ownership doesn’t necessarily correlate to gun access. Household gun ownership we would expect to go down in civilized society.

Do you have theories as to why mass shootings are on the rise? Are you suggesting that easier access to guns has no bearing?

The people that have mental illness have guns too... Most of the mentally ill should be institutionalized...They shouldn't have guns..
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
I totally agree. Horrible. There are many out there who should not be armed and that’s why I totally support a better way to,screen all gun owners before they purchase.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@KaTeeEvent The corrupt justice department would have to hire more FBI Agents and when they do check people out and they know that there is a problem they do not follow through.... And take Chicago for instance the toughest gun laws in the country but look at the gun crimes there... Leftist judges slap there hand let them go .... We need the laws on the books enforced....
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
I believe it is the states which have the most lapse gun rules, where there is the highest gun ownership, that have the most gun murders. Chicago is a densely packed city and therefore an anomaly.
Excuse me while I go listen to some cool songs about popping caps in homies asses, slapping hos, and doing drugs .. yeah 👍

KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
I think the author is referring to a gun class taught at a sole Colorado high school.@firefall

@KaTeeEvent thanks for the warning
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@KaTeeEvent I don't buy that... And the federal gov runs the FBI I know because I have been interviewed by many, As I held one of the highest Top secret clearance that the gov. has ever issued with a NATO endorsement...
firefall · 61-69, M
@masterofyou oops, liar trips over himself. NATO doesnt endorse clearances, individual governments do (and are required to do so by the Treaty), so clearance from any one country is applied in all the treaty countries.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@KaTeeEvent That's it for the day I'm going to post a few songs and chugalug a bottle of Jack.... Ta Ta...
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
Guns now proliferate American society. There are far more (300 million in American households from what I read) than ever before. The laws and the thinking have dramatically changed and it’s far easier to obtain a gun.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
Not so much carried on campus as much as many guys carried a rifle or shotgun in their vehicle to hunt with after school. I still remember a coach wanting to see my new 12 gauge I got for Christmas.
