Fifty years ago guns were carried on high school campuses

There were no mass shootings. Today there are mass shootings. What happened?

The people that have mental illness have guns too... Most of the mentally ill should be institutionalized...They shouldn't have guns..

A fine start.@masterofyou

@KaTeeEvent 1) The left leaning Governor, assembly, and senate in our state deemed it necessary to close down theses institutions and put these people out on the street or at least on there own with out any support...

2) Although this is not in the same category, but they also decided to shut down all the sheltered workshops for special needs children and mainstream them into normal society... Now they don't have a place to be comfortable in...

Alas the state of mental health and associated budgeting is terrible in every single state. NY prolly would be one of the better funded states.

Yes 20 billion in debt... Where did all the money go??? And government corruption.... you can't blame the right we haven't been in power for 19 years... Actually longer...

No blame at all. All states are running at deficits. The state funding from the federal govt. has been slowly turned off the past 30years.

As it turns out, it seems NY provides the 12th best mental health care services on a state wide level among the 50states. Not sure of the exact veracity of the article or the exact criteria. Not to play the politic card but 10 of the 12 are blue states. Not sure if there is a correlation to gun related murders and where the states sit as to mental health care.

@KaTeeEvent The Florida broward county school shooting incident

The nut job that was shot up the Jewish temple do you think he might belong there in a mental institution... He certainly needed help... He certainly should never have a gun...

@KaTeeEvent Sure but the poor cant afford them and Medicaid is a joke here.. I deal with them every day with my daughter....

I totally agree. Horrible. There are many out there who should not be armed and that’s why I totally support a better way to,screen all gun owners before they purchase.

@KaTeeEvent The corrupt justice department would have to hire more FBI Agents and when they do check people out and they know that there is a problem they do not follow through.... And take Chicago for instance the toughest gun laws in the country but look at the gun crimes there... Leftist judges slap there hand let them go .... We need the laws on the books enforced....

I believe it is the states which have the most lapse gun rules, where there is the highest gun ownership, that have the most gun murders. Chicago is a densely packed city and therefore an anomaly.
