This is not going to make the Americans happy ...

I see the latest country happiness survey results are out!
And I also see those high taxing, socialist learning, pesky scandanavian countries are topping the list again.
GlassDog · 41-45, M
Always seems to be the case, doesn't it? Scandinavia, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. Who'd have thought that fairness and equality could actually make people happy?

well some of us "Americans" live by what we actually see
Like Vets told the Government is not longer paying them to stay in college
Child care and insurance cut on children and the elderly
Cut backs or bankruptcy in major chains that have been around forever
even stores like Winn Dixie and ToysRUs
While some markets are reported to be booming, the ones close to home are closing
Even health Care,, a job always secure ,now no one wants the Jobs so incentives like free homes and utilities are being offered to attract new people to the field
Police officer and Troopers retiring and a shortage as no one wants the jobs
Way to many police officers dying in the line of duty
To little pay ,to little respect and they all pay for the actions of a few .
No dear ,Only the ones buying the hype and polls may be disappointed
Some of us live in the real world and have no blinder
We were worried and sad long before any reports came out

@SW-User now you tell me..Sheesh, talk about bad timing!
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@SW-User I am prepared for what ever is coming
and I wear the whole armor of God
That means my Dad and Brother are close by
have a blessed one
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@ozgirl512 Statistics show we lost our way somewhere around 1980
We have been on a moral and ethical decline since
To much attention to pleasure and entertainment
and less on family and personal conduct ,Kids are out of control
I personally think it was before that ,
But I have believed it was going to get worse for a long time
and I have tried to prepare my family for what ever is coming
We all have walked through the fire ,
We just pray faith an experience are enough .but
We try not to count on our own strengths anymore
there are way to many things beyond our control .
We know we are getting closer to something
We have never been treated so crappy for trying to do good before
Now days even helping people ,,they think you have an ulterior motive
Told were to nice ,no one can really be like this
Yea were getting close
When you are hated for doing good ,told this feel to touchy feely
yea the world had definitely flipped up side down
TammieBear · 22-25, F
I am sceptical of the measurements used in this survey. Yes, it is nice to think that the Scandinavian nations are rewarded for being egalitarian, humane and generous, but I am not sure this is what the survey concluded. Happiness is subjective and transient. One year Bhutan came top of this poll, yet the government is a virtual theocracy, the country expelled 20% of its population in the 1990s to make it more homogeneous, and it is illegal to love someone of the same gender as yourself 😟 I am half French. Part of my happiness is derived from officially being allowed to be miserable 😌
GlassDog · 41-45, M
@TammieBear I've been involved in Quality of Life studies with the World Health Organisation and they find that they have to ask different questions in different countries and so the results can't really be compared like for like but just used as an instrument in a single country. I'd guess the same is true for these studies and they have to rely on quite subjective interpretation of results.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@TammieBear you do raise valid points.. But scandanavia send to top the list year in and year out.. seems they're doing something right
Cierzo · M
I keep wondering why those happy countries have such high alcoholism and suicide rates.
SW-User
@Cierzo Why? What would prompt them to lie? 🤔
@Cierzo
Definitely not progressive. I'll give you that much. You just keep coming up with
these great comebacks. It's hilarious. 😂
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
Possibly a regressive one though lol @Cierzo
Our country goes through a complete breakdown every 20 years and vote in completely unqualified leaders. How else can you explain the educationally accomplished i.e. Reagan, George W and the absolute worst yet, trump.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@SomeLikeItHot I don't think it's just them ...I think there may be a lack of critical thinking skills..
@ozgirl512
I preferred our previous leadership when the US used the State Department instead of Generals and twitter accounts for diplomacy.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@SomeLikeItHot I agree... Definitely a step backwards!
Don't see how this would make us unhappy, tho. I mean...a country's gov't is helping to improve/sustain their people's happiness. I don't see the rub in that.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@EllaDisenchanted I hope so
@ozgirl512 Even chaos evens out to new order eventually.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@EllaDisenchanted I think it's the other way round.. Order Falls into chaos
Carver · 31-35, F
Que the "Well they would be because [insert idiotic statement here]" responses.
@Carver
The yellow van, not even being American just made one. 🤦
Carver · 31-35, F
@SapphicHeart I see that. Oh dear...
@Carver
No bigly surprise there. 🙄
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
I see NZ was ranked eighth, Australia tenth, US eighteenth. Not sure about the UK. 2019 rankings should be out soon.
steve717 · 56-60, M
Actually contrary to conservative Americans... there are Americans with progressive views which are not haters and actual applaud other countries and nations. I am not at all conservative Republican nor part of the mess that elected and supports Donald Trump. I do not consider the Scandanivian countries pesky, I consider them evolved and America can actually learn a lot from others. Sadly, those in power do not consider what could be done or should be done for everyone.
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
America has the exact amount of happiness it deserves.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Mikemcneil that's profound ...

Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
I bet our well off people are happier
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Jackaloftheazuresand maybe, maybe not...I think the not well off who are in the majority might disagree though
kate21 · 26-30, F
who wants to be happy when you can free to die of preventable disease, send your kid to failing schools, and still somehow manage to pay more than those socialist countries for the privilege?
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@kate21 when you put it that way ...🤔
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@kate21 thats one way to look at it
Let all the BS control your destiny ,or plot your own coarse .
you can overcome the struggles ,teach your kids to set standards and apply themselves ,and like mine ,they can one day be successful too
And now their kids are on the right roads
It helps to pick a career that will always be needed .but
If all you see are the negatives ,and thats what you teach your kids
You can't blame society ,our government .
I had no one helping me ,and lots of struggles and set backs ,I made it
Not one time 3 times (hard to do anything when you can't walk ,but I bounced back ,it cost me $20.000.00 but I bounced back ,I didn't quit
And I am not saying that to say I am anyone ,but I never let anything hold me down and I always made my own way ,and I have been at it a very long time .
And now my kids are nurses ,my grandson an intern in an aviation program
My Granddaughter earned 6 yrs worth of scholarships in a public school
She is wasting them right now letting her man go after his career first .
But its not like we can't make it if we want to .
You get out of life what you put into it
I gave sweat and blood so my kids didn't have to
And NO ONE ever done that for Me
Now I am paying for it ,but my kids will never know the struggles I have
But my kids are my future
Like my parents ,I will not end up in a nursing home either
I will die with people I love there with me
taking care of people until they die is what we do
Wish you all the luck in the world
Don't look at the forest ,,take it down one tree at a time
never let someone who failed at it tell you that you can't
They are quitters ,quitters Never Win ,they quit
Darn those commies. It's impossible!!

ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@SapphicHeart I know!
@ozgirl512 😘

Doesn't care, sheeple.

Surveys come on, brainwashed always trying irrelevant analysis.

Those who need documentation to prove if theyre happy..... are most certainly not.

Buh-bye. 😂😂😂😁😀😄😄😄
Mikemcneil · 61-69, M
@sighmeupforthat you seem like a real fun guy....

ozgirl512 · 26-30, F

ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@nedkelly true.. But tbh I think they're both symptoms, not causes
