I am sceptical of the measurements used in this survey. Yes, it is nice to think that the Scandinavian nations are rewarded for being egalitarian, humane and generous, but I am not sure this is what the survey concluded. Happiness is subjective and transient. One year Bhutan came top of this poll, yet the government is a virtual theocracy, the country expelled 20% of its population in the 1990s to make it more homogeneous, and it is illegal to love someone of the same gender as yourself 馃槦 I am half French. Part of my happiness is derived from officially being allowed to be miserable 馃槍

@TammieBear I've been involved in Quality of Life studies with the World Health Organisation and they find that they have to ask different questions in different countries and so the results can't really be compared like for like but just used as an instrument in a single country. I'd guess the same is true for these studies and they have to rely on quite subjective interpretation of results.
