Best anxiety tips that don’t involve medication?

shuhak · M
* Breathing exercises - good for when you can't get away (i.e. work or school).
* Focused meditation - good for when you're alone.
* Running in place (even while sitting) - helps to purge excess energy.
* Walking (especially outside) - fresh air, change of scene help to relax.
* Being around trees and plants (park, arboretum, even a nursery) - being in or around nature brings about a calming effect.
* Watching water (stream, river, ocean) - the sound and movement of water will relieve anxiety (unless you have a fear of water). Real water is best, but a youtube video will also work (full screen mode).

Mindfulness and meditation, reducing your triggers, having an emotionally safe space to be when you feel the anxiety building.

@antisocialbutterfly good luck, sweetie. Anxiety is difficult to live with but it does get a little easier once you figure out what works for you to reduce it.

Exercise, hobbies, video games. Something to focus the mind away from the anxiety. Or tackle the problem head on and solve it.

Mindfullness. Cold water on the wrist and smelling something really strong help me in the moment. Nothing helps the leading up to it

@RippinKlouds I’m not opposed to medication . I’m on my parents health insurance and they don’t believe I have anxiety... and I’m pretty sure I do because I have all the symptoms and the counselor I see at school believes I have it
Slow deep breathing can help anxiety, this is just one technique there are others

Exercise, meditation, relaxing in the shower, keeping yourself distracted and trying to focus on the moment.

Sleeping helps sometimes if you're able.
