For The Sake Of Arguement - If God Is Not real, Then Why Are The Skeptics So Restless? [Spirituality & Religion]

Being offended by Christian Symbols demonstrates that God is real.
JeanAnna · F
I've often wondered why those people who don't believe in God are always trying to prove that He doesn't exist. lol
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 If your God wants people to think that His followers are dishonest and illogical, then I suppose you're not.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63
I've noticed there's no 'pre' before the word, pubescent.
Oh dear, didn't look very far did you. Hyphens can be optional https://www.grammar-monster.com/lessons/hyphens_in_prefixes.htm
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63
there's no 'pre' before the word, pubescent
That’s correct, because I put the pre- there.

In the same way as I might offer 'pre-examination study’ or ‘pre-performance preparation’.

Are you saying that ‘examination’ and ‘performance’ are therefore misspelled?
BanPlastic · 31-35, M
I'm not offended by the symbols but I am offended by what they represent. Christianity and Islam are sexist, homophobic and pedophilic. Staff, please ignore any reports because I have a right to criticize ideas. I'm not criticizing a person.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@GodSpeed63 I'm not seriously waiting for you to provide examples, because I know that you always run away or divert when confronted. Next time you're having a chat with Jesus, ask him if he's happy with the way you represent him.
Sharon · F
@GodSpeed63
Yes I do know Jesus on personal basis.
Of course you do because it's all in your mind. It is exactly what you imagine it to be but that's all it is.
Until you can prove otherwise, fernie, get used to having him around.
Can you prove The Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't live yet? As you say, until you can prove It doesn't live, get used to having It around. r'Amen.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2
Are you referring to your standard proof which consists of something being true simply because you say it is true?
I'm not like you, Newjaninev, What Yahweh has established to be true, that I believe to be true. It's His Word that says He is true and I believe His Word.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
Tell me, is this muppet talking about self-obsessed nutters dragging their personal symbolism into state schools?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 the differences between 'British English' (of which there must be at least 200 versions) and 'American English' (ditto!) are a source of constant interest and amusement to me.
J. K. Rowling
Sharon · F
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 @Sharon Gotta love the "I know you are, I said you are" argument.
walabby · 61-69, M
They are probably only restless when someone else is trying to jam weird beliefs down their necks!
This is like saying if you don't like being punched in the face why do you get so upset about it.
Are you OK with this being displayed?
@Bushranger Correct. Either no religious symbols may be displayed on public property, or any and all of them can be displayed.
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@LeopoldBloom I don't have a problem with that. If US christians insist on having their symbols displayed, they need to accept that all other religious symbols will have to be accepted, unless they disagree with the Constitution.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@LeopoldBloom
The situation Bijoux described has nothing to do with freedom of belief.
What do you believe?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
I wonder how big a twist he'd get his knicker in if someone insisted that other religious symbols be exhibited in schools.
Sharon · F
@Bushranger I expect he'd be furious - which would prove the other gods are real. :)
jackieash · 26-30
1) No one is offended. 2) No one is trying to ban anything. Period.
@GodSpeed63 So why do you demand that your God's symbols be displayed at public expense? If you want to worship him, you shouldn't have a need to validate that by forcing everyone else to pay for those symbols.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@LeopoldBloom
So why do you demand that your God's symbols be displayed at public expense?
So why do you demand that your God's symbols be taken away or taken down at public expense?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@jackieash
1) No one is offended. 2) No one is trying to ban anything. Period.
Where were you when they banned prayer from schools or waving the confederate flag in the Southern States or banning books that they think is offensive in public schools; this includes children's literature?
Bushranger · 70-79, M
And of course all Athiests are offended by Christian (or any other religious) symbols. What a load of pretentious crap.
@Bushranger I’ve encountered more theists offended by symbols like pentagrams or Orisha talismans because they automatically believe (incorrectly) that they’re tied in with Satanism.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
Tell me, is this muppet talking about self-obsessed nutters dragging their personal symbolism into state schools?
okaybut · 56-60, M
Because the skeptics are trying to logically validate god, and this is impossible, as there is no direct verifiable evidence.
Lynda70 · F
Non sequitur. You must be really desperate to get coverts if you're reduced to that sort of idiotic reasoning.
kodiac · 22-25, M
What about symbols of other religions? Should we allow A statue of Buddha in the classroom? Muslim symbols ,native American symbols,Pagan symbols? Well of course not because Christian is the only true religion? Either include them all or none at all.
Sharon · F
@kodiac A friend of mine wears an inverted crucifix. The christians really object to that. ;)
kodiac · 22-25, M
@Sharon I bet lol
@GodSpeed63 Some fundamentalist Christians oppose yoga being taught in public schools, on the grounds that it promotes Hinduism.

i don’t care what symbols are used on your property..or marketing..
hell, i will go one further... you can drop logos and pamphlets from airplanes... that however will cost your tax exempt status.

@SW-User If only 501c3 was ACTUALLY enforced.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
There will always be some people who believe in God and others who don't. Why can't the lot of them agree to differ and then say no more about it?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@fernie2 No, they will persist in trying to insinuate their delusions into whichever society is around them (it was a key feature of the European colonisation strategy).

Most disturbing is their predilection for children. Here in New Zealand we have made good progress in driving them from classrooms, and by the end of this year we should have them firmly locked out. Nevertheless, they come at our children in new and inventive ways, seeking malleable, uncritical minds to infect. It’s quite disgusting.
@newjaninev2 It's a serious, dangerous, insane cult. I'm delighted to know you are locking them OUT!
Sharon · F
@newjaninev2
Here in New Zealand we have made good progress in driving them from classrooms, and by the end of this year we should have them firmly locked out.
That's good to hear. It would be nice to do the same here in the UK. The problem here is that the church has its own, unelected, representatives in parliament who would veto any such attempt. UK schools are legally required to hold daily, "broadly christian" religious assemblies and to teach religion which, as local churches have some influence over the curriculum, often amounts to christian indoctrination. Parents have a legal right to exempt their children from either or both but that right is not widely known and christian headteachers have been known to deny it even exists.
bugeye · 26-30, F
or more likely we think 2000 years of oppression and backwards ideals and morals are enough.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
And here I was just talking about mob psychology and someone tries reverse psychology! 🤣

Hmmm... bad apple. Don't want it in the barrel! 😁
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GodSpeed63 maybe you like all the apples in the barrel spoiled instead of just one. Most don't!
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer
maybe you like all the apples in the barrel spoiled instead of just one.
What would spoil the apples in the barrel?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GodSpeed63 that's a matter of opinion. Bad apples come in all conditions. None belong in the barrel.
That s the dumbest thing I've heard all day

@Emosaur well said !!
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
The skeptics who see the need to constantly denigrate others belief are obviously very insecure in what they believe!
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@TheWildEcho
denigrate others belief
Which is creationist-speak for ‘question, examine, and challenge'
