Being offended by Christian Symbols demonstrates that God is real.

I've often wondered why those people who don't believe in God are always trying to prove that He doesn't exist. lol
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@JeanAnna I can’t speak for those people, but as an atheist my position is:

1. there's no proof that gods exist (otherwise we’d all be theists)
2. there's no proof that gods don't exist (they might be lurking around a mountaintop somewhere)
3. in any event, there’s no compelling necessity to postulate the existence of gods, and the postulation explains nothing (not even itself)... it merely tries to explain everything away.
4. therefore, I have no gods (I’m an agnostic atheist)

Nowhere in there will you find a belief, and nowhere in there will you find any attempt to prove that your god (or any god) doesn't exist

lol!

@newjaninev2 I do believe in God with all my heart, body and soul. All one has to do is look around at nature, look at our bodies, we didn't just evolve, God made you and me. Plus he loves you and me too, even though you are rejecting him.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@JeanAnna I’m not rejecting your god. I’m saying that there’s
no compelling necessity
to even postulate its existence.

The Argument from Personal Astonishment is a long way from compelling necessity
we didn't just evolve
Ignoring all evidence to the contrary, I assume

@Emosaur
We simply want people to realize he doesn't exist.
In order to do that, you need to prove that Yahweh isn't real. You haven't done it yet.

@GodSpeed63 so you feel that it’s up to others to refute whichever fictions you care to invent.

Gosh, the rest of humanity is going to be busy doing that for you!
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2
so you feel that it’s up to others to refute whichever fictions you care to invent.
That's your gig, Newjaninev, not mine. If you want to keep inventing fiction for me to refute, I can't stop you. Me, I'm going to stick with the truth.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Emosaur
I have
Not from where I'm sitting. All you ever give is a lot of nonsense, Emosaur. Not a very strong case to refute the one true God, Yahweh. Not strong at all.

@GodSpeed63 an example of that fiction being what, exactly?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@GodSpeed63 (this is the bit where you divert, distract, and run away)
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 I'm still waiting for him to answer my questions, so it's not surprising that he'd run away from this discussion too, lol.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Bushranger Yes, it’s standard practice... happens every time
Bushranger · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 And, I dare say, will continue to happen.

@JeanAnna
I've often wondered why those people who don't believe in God are always trying to prove that He doesn't exist
Whether or not god exists is irrelevant to me. It's people who claim the bible is scientifically and historically inerrant that bother me.
Lynda70 · F
@JeanAnna
All one has to do is look around at nature,
So what is it that proves the existence of your specific god rather than one or more of the many others?
JeanAnna · F
@Lynda70 As I've said before, those who don't believe are always, just like you, are trying to disprove God. If you don't believe in God, why try to disprove something, in your mind, doesn't exist. I think deep down you do believe that there is God.

I believe and I don't need or have to prove that He exists.
Lynda70 · F
@JeanAnna I don't need to disprove something for which there is no evidence but I do think it important to challenge unsupported claims.
I think deep down you do believe that there is God.
Do you really intend to be that offensive? It's like me saying "I think deep down you do you know there is no God, that it's just a silly myth."
I believe and I don't need or have to prove that He exists.
Then why waste time trying to convince other he exists?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Emosaur
Like I said, you're simply unable to grasp it.
It's you that can't grasp the Truth, Emosaur.
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@newjaninev2
an example of that fiction being what, exactly?
You tell me, it's your fiction, Newjaninev, it's your fiction that we're discussing, not reality.

I don't think she meant to be offensive, so, why are you getting offended by her question? Do you get offended at someone wearing a cross necklace or a t-shirt with a Christian message on it? If so, why?
GodSpeed63 · 61-69, M
@Emosaur
I absolutely can. If you don't think so, feel free to prove me wrong.
Prove yourself right for once.
@JeanAnna
I've often wondered why those people who don't believe in God are always trying to prove that He doesn't exist.
Well take for example Christians like speedy always shifting the burden of proof onto none believers and literally asking them to disprove God for instance. But you can't disprove a negative. So it becomes a case of Christians think they win by default.
