@LeopoldBloom What is it, and where is it?
@LeopoldBloom That’s the difference. At work I had a Wiccan colleague who wore a pentagram necklace and some of the Christian employees wanted her to be forbidden from wearing it on the job.
They were the ones bullying her and the ones trying to sell church dinners and hold prayer sessions on company premises.
Ironically, when they were told that if the woman couldn’t wear her necklace, their religious activities would also have to stop, they complained that they were being persecuted as Christians.
I’ve often seen that kind of hypocrisy—it didn’t occur to them that they were trying to interfere with someone else’s “religious freedom”.

@bijouxbroussard Typical christian double standards. The want freedom of belief for themselves while denying it to everyone else. Hypocrisy is the hallmark of christianity.

What left field did that come out of. Denying freedom to believe is on your part, Sharon, not ours. The freedom to believe belongs to everyone, not just us.

@GodSpeed63 As always, you’re free to believe anything you choose to believe, just as others are free to question those beliefs whenever you present them as fact.

Try reading @bijouxbroussard's comment above. It's perfectly clear that the christians were persecuting the Wiccan by attempting to deny her right to express her religion. At the same time they wanted the right to express and practice theirs on company premises. As I said, they're hypocrites.

@bijouxbroussard I was under the impression that numerous Courts had interpreted the 1st amendment to mean that no government institution could promote or be seen to support any individual religion. Following from that, all religious symbols were prohibited from being displayed or religious practices prohibited in public institutions. I believe that private institutions are not covered by those restrictions, but perhaps you could correct me on that.

Since all religious symbols are prohibited, it would be fair to say that according to the flawed logic of the video, all religions are equally true.
@newjaninev2 It's the Baphomet statue from the Satanic Temple. They have petitioned to display these in government buildings where the Ten Commandments are displayed. Since the US Constitution doesn't grant special status to any one religion, either the Ten Commandments come down or the Baphomet goes up.
@GodSpeed63 The situation Bijoux described has nothing to do with freedom of belief. It has to do with freedom to display religious symbols on the job. The Christian employees were complaining about the Wiccan employee wearing a symbol of her faith, so the solution was for no one to wear any religious symbols. Since this meant that Christians couldn't wear crosses, they complained about being "persecuted." But if they had simply allowed the Wiccan employee to wear her pentagram, everything would have been fine.
@Bushranger Correct. Either no religious symbols may be displayed on public property, or any and all of them can be displayed.

@LeopoldBloom I don't have a problem with that. If US christians insist on having their symbols displayed, they need to accept that all other religious symbols will have to be accepted, unless they disagree with the Constitution.
