So Neera Tanden is out. Thank goodness.

A special thanks to all the activists who raised hell. She should never have been considered in the first place.

She would have been a sound and solid check-and-balance on reckless spending. The Republicans are nuts and truly are no longer the voice of rational and compassionate Conservatives.

@BlueMetalChick Well, now you're just being silly and shrill. While textbooks have their proper place, trying to operate in life and the world stage by textbook ideals is not advisable... in my professional opinion.

One could reasonably argue that going into Afghanistan was wrong for the USA (or any other nation that has done so) to do. But, it's done. And with a shrug of the shoulders and a textbook rationale pulling out, lickety split, will cause that country to literally implode. There needs to be a staged withdrawal and that has nothing to do with Neera Tanden who has, for some random reason, become your villain for this week.

She would fund wars; she would abuse power; she would be terrible... It's a good thing everyone getting ready for an interview doesn't have to first go through your psychic screening that would produce a report on what the candidate would do without ever actually conducting any kind of actual behavioural review.

@MarkPaul Ah, so constitutional law is a "textbook" and trying to operate by it is silly and shrill. Thank you for going on record saying you think it's a ridiculous idea to abide by our own laws. I appreciate you finally admitting it.

Cause Afghanistan to implode? What the hell is it doing now? War is raging on there. Do you really think we're helping anyone by being there causing conflict?

If you're saying we need to leave but like in small increments over the course of a few months, maybe a year, yeah ok. That's fine and all. But make no mistake that we need to leave and not keep a presence there.

You clearly haven't known me very long if you think she's "villain if the week." I've had a problem with her for a number of years. I post about it fairly often.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@BlueMetalChick Well, honestly I have never heard much of her until her name came up for this position. And, on record, her credentials and experience seem to make her qualified. It's a moot point now, anyway thanks to fringe radicals who are more interested in ideologue point-scoring than competent performance.

And, I'm not calling the Constitution a textbook or violating the law ridiculous. Instead, I am pointing out world affairs require attention that goes beyond isolationist dogma. It's curious to me that you present Allied forces being the sole or major cause of failure confronting Afghanistan. And, yes we are talking about a step-by-step withdrawal done in a methodical way instead of making a big splash with a detrimental outcome because it will make for a feel-good social media moment.

I'm just calling you out for attempting to turn Neera Tanden into a villain because she doesn't pass your purity test. I guess for you only certain women cut the grade.

@SomeMichGuy Imagine being so sensitive that you get offended by someone having the same nickname as a fictional character.

You met the actress? Good for you. Nobody cares if you met someone. I've met famous people. You know who cares? Nobody.

God I hope you never find out that the nickname Zuzu has existed for far longer than film has even been a thing, or that there are other characters more well known in the modern day who have been called that than anyone from It's a Wonderful Life.
@BlueMetalChick Of course it makes sense that "Zuzu" predates the movie. Why make the film needlessly opaque by making up a new name for a character who is important but not the lead? lol

I think most readers, enjoyers of art, etc., find that characters often have a reality of their own. Maybe it's more of an imagination thing, but people like Atticus Finch, James Bond, Wonder Woman, the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo...

But yeah, she is very nice, and I cared, bc it was neat that she is actually sweet, and not tired or jaded or needlessly mean. And people who like that movie often _do_ care.

Do I care whether or not *you* care? LOL

I hope you _do_ care about interesting famous ppl whom _you_ have met, since it IS _your_ life. Of *course* other ppl cannot feel what you feel in a given situation, bc their starting point & integrated experience differs from your starting point, your integrated experience. I could not judge your personal enjoyment of such things; characterizing how others might feel about it is even further removed from my direct experience.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SomeMichGuy As much as I enjoy works of fiction and the characters within, I can't say it affects my perception of the real world. Never once have I taken offense to someone having the same name as a made up person.

Meeting interesting and famous people isn't exactly something that makes a difference in my life, no. Because unless I can spend enough time around them to experience what makes them meaningful then it's no different than a chance encounter with a stranger. And this is especially true for actors. A character portrayed by an actor is not who that person really is. If I met Malcolm McDowell, I wouldn't be meeting Alex De Large.
Thank the gods she was nixed. What a joke. Might as well skip the pretense and offer the job to HRC.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow wasn't she also anti-union?
@BlueMetalChick That is my point. CAP was basically intended to be a dumping ground for a slush fund and a pool of aparatchiks for HRC's campaign that didn't have her name on it like the Clinton Foundation.
@basilfawlty89 Very much so.

Funny that past tweets, can cost you a position now but not when Trump was running.
Don't you think? 🤔
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Harriet03 It's unfortunate that mean tweets were what everyone focused on. Even the small number of congresspeople who are usually quite sound in judgment were overlooking her horrendous record and focusing on Twitter drama.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@BlueMetalChick The hypocrisy is staggering!!
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Harriet03 I know. "You made mean tweets! You aren't fit to govern!" But they take no issue with pushing endless war and illegal invasions. Mean tweets are far too egregious but encouraging unlawful offensive war is totally fine.
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
That almost sounds like a Star Wars character...
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@CrustyDDingus Jedi master Tanden fell to the dark side.
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick she fell on her headass
So it wasn’t because she had a few mean tweets.
NoahB · 26-30, M
as someone who she blocked on twitter i am serene
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
I miiiiiiissssssss youuuuuuuuu. Ever since you went back to Serbia you've been too good for me. 😭
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SinlessOnslaught I'm in the USA again now actually, which is different.
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
@BlueMetalChick You should visit Ohio sometime. Just make sure you don't bring any of your malice. 😶
OfflineFriend · 22-25
Who that ?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@OfflineFriend Former head of the Center for American Progress, basically a PAC set up to be Hillary Clinton's loyalist governance should she have gotten elected.
OfflineFriend · 22-25
@BlueMetalChick ah ok , btw I find it strange you didn’t make a post about the thing that happen on Siria
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@OfflineFriend By the time I'd heard, it had been posted about so many times that I thought it might be annoying.
