@BlueMetalChick hope you're doing well 🤗
@Nutshell29 Zuzu? Karolyn Grimes is 80...and a very sweet woman.

@SomeMichGuy Zuzu is a common nickname of mine. My first name is Zoë. I also get Zozo a lot, ZZ, and Boo.
@BlueMetalChick That is in your circle. Zuzu Bailey is famous the world over...

@SomeMichGuy Yes but I exist for real and she doesn't.

But that movie is famous for a reason. It's a classic.
@BlueMetalChick Thank you for informing me that It's A Wonderful Life is a classic. My instant reaction to "Zuzu" is "Zuzu's petals!"

It would not surprise me if her movie character were known to many more persons than you. However, I *have* met the actress who played her IRL.

You are a character on a website, AFAIK, whom I have not met IRL.

And I dare say many characters in literature & other art have a reality for aficionados which exceeds the reality of these shadows of ourselves here in v-land.

@SomeMichGuy Imagine being so sensitive that you get offended by someone having the same nickname as a fictional character.

You met the actress? Good for you. Nobody cares if you met someone. I've met famous people. You know who cares? Nobody.

God I hope you never find out that the nickname Zuzu has existed for far longer than film has even been a thing, or that there are other characters more well known in the modern day who have been called that than anyone from It's a Wonderful Life.
@BlueMetalChick Of course it makes sense that "Zuzu" predates the movie. Why make the film needlessly opaque by making up a new name for a character who is important but not the lead? lol

I think most readers, enjoyers of art, etc., find that characters often have a reality of their own. Maybe it's more of an imagination thing, but people like Atticus Finch, James Bond, Wonder Woman, the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo...

But yeah, she is very nice, and I cared, bc it was neat that she is actually sweet, and not tired or jaded or needlessly mean. And people who like that movie often _do_ care.

Do I care whether or not *you* care? LOL

I hope you _do_ care about interesting famous ppl whom _you_ have met, since it IS _your_ life. Of *course* other ppl cannot feel what you feel in a given situation, bc their starting point & integrated experience differs from your starting point, your integrated experience. I could not judge your personal enjoyment of such things; characterizing how others might feel about it is even further removed from my direct experience.

@SomeMichGuy As much as I enjoy works of fiction and the characters within, I can't say it affects my perception of the real world. Never once have I taken offense to someone having the same name as a made up person.

Meeting interesting and famous people isn't exactly something that makes a difference in my life, no. Because unless I can spend enough time around them to experience what makes them meaningful then it's no different than a chance encounter with a stranger. And this is especially true for actors. A character portrayed by an actor is not who that person really is. If I met Malcolm McDowell, I wouldn't be meeting Alex De Large.
